Never mind protein, most people are not eating enough fibre… and your gut definitely notices.

Fibre isn’t just about “keeping things moving” — it’s a key player in overall health, especially when it comes to the gut microbiome.
The average intake is far below what we actually need — and it can impact everything from digestion to hormones.

Why fibre matters:
✨ Feeds beneficial gut bacteria (your microbiome thrives on it)
✨ Supports regular digestion and bowel movements
✨ Helps balance blood sugar levels
✨ Aids in hormone regulation (especially oestrogen clearance)
✨ Supports heart health and helps manage cholesterol

Want to increase your fibre naturally? Start with these:
🥦 Broccoli
🥕 Carrots
🥬 Kale & leafy greens
🧅 Onions & leeks (great prebiotic support)
🌱 Lentils & chickpeas
🍠 Sweet potatoes (with the skin)

⚠️ A quick note — more fibre isn’t always better overnight
If you increase too quickly, you might notice bloating or discomfort.
✔️ Build up gradually
✔️ Increase your water intake alongside it
Your gut needs time to adapt — but once it does, the benefits are huge.
If you’re working on your gut health, fibre is one of the simplest (and most powerful) places to start 🌿

🌱 Time to choose and plant your tomato seeds!
Homegrown tomatoes are hard to beat, and with so many colours and varieties, there’s plenty to explore.
Did you know the darker tomatoes, currently very much in vogue, are rich in anthocyanins?
These antioxidants support your heart and help reduce inflammation. 🍇 Other anthocyanin-rich foods include blueberries, blackberries, and purple carrots.
And don’t forget lycopene, the red pigment in tomatoes — it’s anti-inflammatory, supports heart health, and may help protect the prostate.
Plant some today and enjoy a colourful, healthy harvest! 🍅

These were from the selection I grew last year.

Language matters – especially around food...

Diet talk is often unintentional, learned, and deeply ingrained.

Shifting it doesn’t require calling people out – just slowing down, getting curious, and choosing gentler words.

Here are some phrases you could use to keep conversations neutral, inclusive, and friendly 🤍
