I went on a gorgeous pilgrimage to Glastonbury this week, to gather with women and be held by the wonderful  .brading as she guided us on a journey to explore and remember the women of the wells.

Having worked within wellness for the past decade, I had never connected the thread between being 'well' and our societal sickness emerging from the severence from the ancient ways of the well.

Hearing lore of the dear maidens who would tend to the wells, sing to the waters and knew how to keep the rivers of life flowing with crystalline purity. ⭕

It's astonishing how disconnected we've become as a society from the most sacred, life-giving resource.

I adore the work of and the emerging research that points to just how unbelievably intelligent water is.

All this deepening awareness of the majesty of water, whilst simultaneously entering a new era of potential scarcity as the fear surrounding AI data centres, climatic changes and pollutants mount...

I have felt very drawn to connect with the waters this year. My trip to Mexico was centred around visiting ancient Mayan cenotes and swimming in lagoons and waterfalls.

I am trusting the timing of moving to Bath, with such an abundance of wells and waterways, and a deep history of water goddesses and water worship here. I have already stumbled upon an ancient spring just a short walk from my home, that was once a place of pilgrimage and healing and since the 1930s has sadly ceased to flow. 💦

As my ancestral studies deepen, I am feeling a strong desire to learn more about my English heritage, and the ways my ancestors would have tended to the elements, elementals and these lands.

Feeling inspired after this pilgrimage, to sit with the waters, to sing to them and to listen to the wisdom they hold.

May we be well once more. 💧

What if you're as extraordinarily ordinary as the rest of your ancestors?

Hear me out...

A popular rhetoric in ancestral healing work seems to be around being the "cycle breaker",and the "chosen one" called to transform the lineage.

While sentiments like "it didn't start with me, but it ends with me" seem empowering, these beliefs can quietly inflate us, placing us above the very ancestors we're trying to honour.

Through the lens of family constellations, these beliefs are worth holding lightly.

Systemic constellations is guided by a core principle: there is an order to love.

To fully receive the love and support of our ancestors, we must stand in our correct place in the system. For example, children are always smaller than their parents because parents give life and children receive it. This isn't hierarchy for its own sake. It's how love flows. ❤️

When we inflate ourselves, we step out of our energetic place in the family system. Spiritual grandiosity - however well meaning - can quietly sever us from the very lineage we are trying to heal and connect with.

The smaller we become, (in a systemic sense) the more we can receive.

Accepting our ordinariness is a paradoxical key of ancestral healing. No matter our best intentions, we will always pass something onto our descendents that needs healing. We are messy, flawed, humans.🧬

It is a huge weight to carry to feel you must be the sole pioneer of change for your entire lineage... How exhausting!

The more humble we can become in recognising our shared humanity... flaws and all. The more we can receive the blessings of our ancestors. The more we can receive their support, the better resourced we are to live our lives fully and leave a legacy of love.

Humility supports us to open to the flow of life, vitality and ancestral wisdom.

You don't need to be the "chosen one" to be well supported. Take your place. 🙏

One year as a mother. 9 months as a single mum.
365 days of being irritated as f*** by how low the bar is set for dad's. 😂

It doesn't just hurt mothers, who are already trying to hold and juggle everything...It hurts men too. A low bar locks them out of fully stepping into fatherhood.

I've lost count of the number of times people have told me what a 𝘣𝘳𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘢𝘯𝘵 dad my daughters dad is, because he comes over a couple of times a week. "At least he sees her" - said like it's something to celebrate, rather than... the bare minimum.

Credit where it's due - he is a great dad! 🙌

But the gap between what makes a 'brilliant dad' and the never-quite-attainable standard mothers are held to is hard not to hold resentment around. Bounce back. Be present. Be a boss. Earn good money. Have a clean home. Don't complain. Do the nights. Soothe your child. ALL of it. Silently and invisibly without acknowledgement.

The invisible mother is so alive in our culture. We deserve better! Kids deserve father's who are fully in it, and fathers deserve to be expected to be.

This is generational healing in motion. 🌀

Too many have had physically and/ or emotionally absent fathers. It's a collective wound that has left an imprint.

To the dad's who are leaving a legacy of connection with their children. Thank you. I see you.

To the mother's... I bow to you. ❤️

I fell pregnant halfway through a two-year training in Family Constellations - a powerful intergenerational trauma healing modality - where I was delving into my own inherited patterns and ancestral wounds. It is profound work that touches the soul and shifts energy within a family in the most remarkable of ways. 🌀

Through constellations, we begin to recognise and reconcile with the excluded or forgotten family members and events that have been deeply etched into a family's emotional history. They continue to live within us, often unconsciously shaping our experiences, even many generations on.

There was something incredibly special about connecting so deeply with my ancestors, whilst simultaneously becoming an ancestor myself and bringing forth new life.

DNA. Descendants aNd Ancestors.🧬

Not only was the unravelling of ancestral imprints a central thread of my pregnancy through this work, but my initiation into motherhood was bookended by two significant losses.

The week we found out I was pregnant, Sam's sweet granny passed away. Then, one week before I gave birth - on my 'due date'- my own beloved grandma, my last living grandparent, also passed. 🌻

I feel the ache that they never got to meet my daughter Willow in this life. And yet I am so sure they crossed paths in the aethers. 🙏

It was quite something to sit with my dear grandma in her final hours, as she prepared to leave this earthly realm, whilst I was so heavily pregnant and on the brink of birthing new life. The thinness of the veil was palpable. ✨

In families, it is often said that death arrives close to a birth. These huge life transitions seem to command a reshuffling of the family system. Family Constellations is rooted in observing such patterns, and it's something I've witnessed again and again: life and death moving in close proximity to one another.

Have you experienced this?

There are often patterns of shared dates within families - births, deaths, anniversaries and repeating numbers. I find it fascinating!

Within astrology too... continued in comments.
