HAPPY BANK HOLIDAY // I am going into this bank holiday weekend with this question on my mind. What will I do with my one wild and precious life? I am excited and curious about what the rest of this year and beyond will bring. Nice to have some space to reflect and feel into my next steps. What are you planning to do with your one wild and precious life?

HAPPY NATIONAL LOVE A 🌳 DAY // As a person that is fairly obsessed by trees, I was very happy to hear that today was national love a tree day. So to celebrate here’s a few of my lovely tree friends that I have hugged over the years. I challenge you to go for a walk today and hug that tree!?! Please share what you feel.

MINDFULNESS FOR TEENAGERS // I have recently been studying a Mindfulness for Teenagers and Young Adults module & CPD with the great Mindfulness Now/ UK College of Mindfulness Meditation. While doing the course we have been learning about the health and wellbeing of teenagers and young adults and the stats I have been reading are incredibly worrying. According to a NHS survey done in 2023, 1 in 5 children and young adults aged from 8-25 had a probable mental disorder. And to be honest I only think that probably has risen over the last few years.

So today, I am kicking off reading this book to try and understand the why here and I thought I would share the book as it might be interesting for some of you coping with the trials and tribulations of having a teenager in your home.

The more I study and reflect, I am definitely drawn to support children and young people and their families with their wellbeing. How different would this stat be if all children learned some life skills early on to help them cope with life and support their on going mental health and wellbeing.

Be good to hear anyone’s thoughts on this and would you be interested in some on line/in person mindfulness meditation classes to support you and your young person. Check more information out at: arboriwellbeing.co.uk.

I AM GRATEFUL // I have just celebrated my two year anniversary of moving to Wotton-under-Edge and I just want to say how grateful I am to find such a wonderful place to live. Life hasn’t been very easy and there has been times where I was definitely planning on moving away as things didn’t seem in flow.

Thank you for my lovely friends who have been patient in listening me talk about moving back to the Midlands or maybe I am not meant to live here as things haven’t been flowing (my house I was buying fell through last year). But here I am, two years on and have realised that I have finally found a quirky, community-focused place where I feel at home. I was walking back from volunteering at the Jazz Jam a few weeks ago and I was smiling and I suddenly realised I had found a place to live where I don’t need a holiday from. Being in Wotton makes me smile and I feel like I am on holiday there.

So I write this, with joy in my heart and trusting that I am enjoying calling Wotton my home at the moment and I am excited about how the future looks. Whether Wotton is my long term home or not, I am very much enjoying it for now and trying to be more patient about how my next chapter unfolds.

KINDNESS // This quote today reminds us how important kindness is. It is so easy to become so singular at the moment and focus on just your own life and needs but with such a chaotic time we are living in, spreading kindness feels like a great antidote to it. What can you do today to spread a bit of sunshine?

TREE INSPIRATION // I was on a beautiful dog walk yesterday taking my friends dog Tigger out and I just had to stop for a moment and take in the beauty and bird song and just feel really grateful to be living in a place full of amazing trees. This photo is of a local tree that I took recently and it had the most magnificent roots, reminding me of the inspiration and life advice we can take from our wise friends - the trees! Thank you Joanne Raptis for this wise quote. What inspires you?

HOW DO YOU SEE THE WORLD? // I was thinking about what to post today and I felt drawn to share this photo. When I look through a lot of my photos, something stands out. I like to play around with angles and viewpoints and perhaps don’t always take straight, traditionally frame photos. And I definitely feel like it reflects where I am at the moment and also how I like to coach and support my clients. I try to see situations, people and life generally from a different perspective and maybe not my default one or the one that society teaches us to follow. How do you view the world? Can you challenge yourself to see a situation or a person from a different perspective today and it might help move through something or ease your stress.

If you are interested in transformative life coaching and you feel you might benefit from working with a coach, who can see your situation from a different perspective, then do get in touch. I am always happy to jump on a free video chat or call to explore how coaching could benefit you. Contact me on [email protected] or DM me.

HOW TO GROUND // Did you know that decluttering your space helps you feel more grounded? Decluttering your space is very similar to decluttering your mind of things to let go of. If items don’t bring you joy and you haven’t used or worn something in the last year, then let it go and fill your space with things that do bring you value and make you happy. It is really hard to be grounded in an over cluttered area mentally and physically. So seeing it is Spring are you springing into action and decluttering your home? How does it make you feel and is it helping you ground?

WHAT IS SELF LOVE? // Today I feel drawn to share a reminder about self love. Life seems hard going at the moment so maybe it’s time for an important reminder to show ourselves love. So what is self love? Mindful Musing shared this great quote. “Self love is a constant choice. It’s not a magical feeling that appears to you one day. It’s a commitment to your boundaries, your wellbeing, your mental & emotional health & your body.”

GETTING OUTDOORS // I was out on a lovely walk in Wotton under Edge recently as it is so important for me and my health and well-being to get out in to countryside on a regular basis. And it reminded me of some research that I found. Did you know that people that spend two hours a week in green spaces are substantially more likely to report good health and psychological wellbeing than those who don’t? This was based on a study of 20,000 people completed by Matthew White at the European Centre for Environment & Human Health at the University of Exeter in June 2019. Not rocket science but it’s good to be reminded that there is definite benefit for getting out there. That is definitely why I ended up moving to live in this funky but beautiful little town, it is so close to countryside and I can just pop out for a walk in my lunch break. How can you find those two hours a week to connect and ground yourself?
