Over the years.. and still amazed at how far we have come. We are going to start promoting all the good work we do and the first’s we have achieved in the Highlands. We continue to lead and develop to allow people access to services that are needed but limited. The next journey is a personal one, and I have never before promoted what I do but this one is too big to let any more women suffer.. so… I finally embraced the socials!

Five years ago, during COVID, my body was screaming that something was wrong.

My abdomen became so swollen that I looked pregnant. The pain was relentless. I couldn’t go to the bathroom properly, I struggled to move, and the swelling became so severe that I was eventually hospitalized.

The diagnosis was adenomyosis.

At the time, I never imagined that years later I would also face breast cancer.

Since then, I’ve spoken with four female breast cancer surgeons, all of whom told me there is no proven link between adenomyosis and breast cancer. Yet as I continue to research my own journey, I keep finding studies exploring shared hormonal pathways, particularly the role of estrogen and other biological mechanisms that may connect these conditions.

I’m not claiming that adenomyosis causes breast cancer. But I am asking questions.

How many women have experienced both?

How much do we still not know about the relationship between hormone-driven diseases in women’s bodies?

As I look back through these photos, I’m reminded of everything my body has endured—from the bloating, pain, and hospitalization, to a hysterectomy, and now breast cancer.

This journey has taught me to trust my instincts, keep asking questions, and advocate for my own health.
