Empower Menopause is an innovative business providing face to face or online health coaching and support service dedicated to empowering women navigating the complexities of the menopause. The inception of Empower Menopause stems from a profound recognition of the need for s

pecialised support and education for women experiencing menopause. Driven by first-hand experiences and a passion for women's health, I identified a gap of the need for accessible and empathetic resources tailored specifically for menopause, with a vision to transform the way women perceive and manage menopause. Empower Menopause is rooted in the belief that menopause should not be a period of confusion or distress but rather an opportunity for growth and empowerment, facilitated through informed choices and supportive networks. There is a growing recognition of menopause as a significant health issue, leading to increased discussions and education around the topic. Campaigns and initiatives by health organisations are helping to destigmatise menopause, making it a more openly discussed subject. More women are seeking holistic approaches to health and wellbeing, moving away from traditional medical interventions. This trend aligns with the focus on providing comprehensive support that encompasses physical, emotional, spiritual, and psychological aspects of menopause. The sessions cover both pharmacological and non-pharmacological menopause support. Mission
My mission is to provide comprehensive educational resources and tailored support for everyone. I am focused on enhancing understanding and management of menopause. Currently I am offering face-to-face and online meetings, helping small and large businesses to assist their employees to understand and navigate this important life transition. I am committed to fostering a supportive community where everyone can access valuable insights and guidance.

✨ MENOPAUSE MAGIC MONDAY

🤯 Testosterone Isn’t Just a Male Hormone!

Did you know women naturally produce testosterone too?

Today we’re looking at what testosterone actually does in the female body and its role in sexual function, including desire and arousal.

You’ll hear testosterone credited online with everything from energy and brain fog to muscle, mood and motivation — but what does the evidence actually tell us?

That’s exactly what we’re exploring this week.

Evidence before hype. 💚

A quick share because this is such a useful resource. 💙

Hub of Hope is a UK mental health support directory that helps people find local and national support for themselves or someone they’re worried about.

There’s support for young people, adults and urgent situations, all in one place. Sometimes knowing where to turn is the hardest part, so having a simple resource like this can make a real difference.

Worth saving and sharing — you never know who might need it. 💚

🎥 SUNDAY — Coming Up This Week: Testosterone

Testosterone — let’s separate fact from fiction.

Yes, women produce testosterone too! But there’s a lot of noise around testosterone and menopause at the moment.

This week on My Mate Jane – Menopause Nurse, we’re going back to the evidence:

💚 Monday — What does testosterone actually do?
💚 Wednesday — Who might benefit and what does current guidance say?
💚 Friday — Does every menopausal woman need testosterone?

No hype. No miracle claims. Just evidence-based menopause education explained in plain English.

💙 What a humbling experience.

It was a privilege to join Louise and the amazing Focus4Hope team supporting their homeless outreach in Leeds.

The operation was impressive — two teams heading out onto the streets, providing food, food for people’s dogs, toiletries, clothing and other essentials, while another team remained at St Anne’s community centre providing hot meals.

Everyone we met was so friendly, polite and genuinely grateful. It certainly makes you reflect on how much we can take for granted. Tonight I’m particularly thankful for a roof over my head, warmth and a safe bed to sleep in.

A huge shout-out to Louise and the whole Focus4Hope team for the incredible work they do — practical support delivered with kindness, dignity and absolutely no judgement. 💙

Proud to have joined them as a Blossom Ambassador. 🌸

“I Can’t Tolerate Progesterone!” Now What?

💜 Feel Good Friday | Progesterone Intolerance

Taking progesterone and just not feeling yourself?

For some women, progesterone can cause unwanted effects such as low mood, anxiety, bloating, headaches, fatigue or feeling sedated. This is sometimes described as progesterone/progestogen intolerance.

But struggling with one preparation doesn’t necessarily mean you can’t have HRT. There may be different preparations, doses, routes or regimens to explore with your healthcare professional.

🎥 In today’s Feel Good Friday, I’m explaining progesterone intolerance and why menopause treatment should always be individualised.

Evidence-Based menopause Care, Yorkshire Style 💚

🌸 My Mate Jane – Menopause Nurse

One of the greatest things about working in menopause care is that I’m always learning.

Whether it’s the latest research, guidance from the British Menopause Society, or practical strategies that help women navigate everyday life, I’m always looking for ways to bring you evidence-based information that genuinely makes a difference.

Not every tip is menopause-specific, but if it helps reduce stress, improve sleep, build confidence, encourage movement or support wellbeing, it’s worth sharing.

My aim is simple:
💚 To help you understand what’s happening in your body.
💚 To help you feel empowered to make informed choices.
💚 To remind you that menopause is just one chapter of your life—not the whole story.

If there’s a topic you’d like me to cover, pop it in the comments. I love creating content that answers your real-life questions.

Still slightly in shock…

This morning I opened my emails to find one I genuinely wasn’t expecting.

I am incredibly proud to have been awarded the British Menopause Society Advanced Certificate in the Principles and Practice💜💜💙

This has been one of the most challenging and rewarding pieces of professional development I have undertaken. The portfolio, tutorials, workplace learning, case discussions and assessments, multiple reflections and the QIP (eposter at BMS meeting in June) have all pushed me to think critically and continually improve the care I provide.

As a nurse, Advanced Clinical Practitioner and Independent Prescriber, and a Queens Nurse (The Queen’s Institute of Community Nursing) this qualification means I can now independently lead specialist menopause services, including supporting women with complex menopause care, while always recognising the importance of working within my expertise and collaborating with colleagues when needed.

This achievement hasn’t happened in isolation.

A huge thank you to Tracey Dennison RGN,BSc(hons),MSc, PgDip(Aes), ANP, INP, LMCA BSLM, my trainer and mentor, whose knowledge, encouragement and belief in me have been invaluable throughout this journey.

Thank you to my peer group they have been marvellous also to everyone at the British Menopause Society for setting such a high standard for menopause education. Dr Saira Bano my clinical mentor, supervisor and all round cheer leader 🤗 and the MayBush family 🌺

Most importantly, thank you to every woman who has trusted me with her story. You are the reason I continue to learn, question, develop and strive to provide compassionate, evidence-based menopause care.

Here’s to the next chapter… and to continuing to improve menopause care, one conversation at a time.

🌿 Wellness Wednesday 🌿

Why is progesterone needed in HRT?

If you’re taking oestrogen and you still have your womb, progesterone isn’t an optional extra—it’s there for an important reason.

Progesterone helps protect the lining of the womb from becoming too thick, reducing the risk of endometrial hyperplasia and endometrial cancer.

In today’s video, I explain the science behind why progesterone is needed, using my simple keys and locks analogy to make it easy to understand.

Evidence-based menopause education, explained in plain English.
