Did my first couch 2 5k run yesterday!

I've wanted to do couch 2 5k for soooo long, but I always told myself that I couldn't do it, that I wasn't fit enough, that im not a runner, to be fair, I couldn't tell you the last time I ran, probably many, many years ago when I was at school 😅

Yesterday i decided to just go for it. I decided to run through the trail I walk in the woods, at first I kept looking around thinking what if someone sees me? But then I challenged that by thinking, well so what if they do, what's the worst that can happen? And by the time I got to the final run, I was genuinely loving it!

Yes it was hard, im hoping it gets easier the more I do it (anyone whose finished it, let me know in the comments 😂) but I honestly felt so good afterwards and felt really proud of myself for doing it

Definitely wanna see it through to the end so follow along if you wanna see more updates 🧡

I was so nervous about going to the gym on my own for the first time!

I'd been going with my sister, but yesterday I had to go on my own, and it made me feel really anxious

I've had anxiety for most of my life, which sometimes makes doing new things feel a lot harder than they probably should

I got everything ready the night before so that I didn't talk myself out of it, got my gym clothes out, charged up my earbuds so I could listen to music, and planned out what I was gonna do when I got there

I got to the gym at 5am, it was empty which helped me to feel a bit more relaxed. About 20 minutes later a couple of people walked in, and I thought "well this is when I start to get anxious and leave"

But as I finished my set, I noticed that they weren't bothered about what I was doing, they weren't staring at me, they were just getting on with their own workout

So I carried on with my workout too. I left the gym feeling really proud of myself, because I'd just proven to myself that I can do something that scared me and nothing bad happened

Have you ever put off doing something new because you were scared or anxious? Let me know in the comments 👇

And if you're on your own health and fitness journey too, follow along for more real life, no BS advice

How reading inspired my fitness journey...

A couple years ago a friend recommended a book called ACOTAR, and I absolutely loved it!
2 years later and I've now read over 100 books

A lot of people think women read romantasy just for the romance, but thats such a small part of these books. Personally, I read them because the women in these books are strong, they fight in battles and fly dragons (i mean, who wouldn't wanna fly a dragon 😅)

I originally started my fitness journey purely to lose weight, but after reading these books, I want to be strong too, not just shrink myself to be as small as possible

If you're also a romantasy fan, and want to feel strong like your favourite FMC, drop me a DM with the word "STRONG" and let's make that happen

Stop trying to be perfect!

I used to think that going over my calorie target for one day meant i had to spend the next few days trying to fix it

I'd spend the next few days eating really low calories, exercising more, trying to do as many steps as possible. But doing that meant that I just ended up exhausted and overeating again because I'd restricted so much, and this cycle went on for years!

Now, if I do overeat, instead of trying to fix it or waiting for the next day or week to start over, I just reset from the next opportunity. I go for a walk, eat a balanced meal, or have an early night.

Doing this allows you to get back to where you need to be much quicker than waiting for the next day and continuing to spiral.

If this is something you struggle with, drop me a DM and we can chat about how I can help 🧡

High protein dinner ideas, perfect for
summer ☀️

One thing that's helped me massively on my own weight loss journey is making sure my meals are built around protein. It helps keep me fuller for longer, supports muscle, and makes sticking to a calorie deficit a lot easier.

Here are 3 of my favourite high-protein summer dinners ☀️
1 BBQ Chicken & Bacon Flatbread
2 Beef Taco Bowl
3 Greek Style Chicken Bowl

A few of the foods I've eaten this week in a calorie deficit

Took my neice out for breakfast earlier in the week, and had lunch at the garden centre today, because you can absolutely still eat out while in a deficit

Also been eating a lot more fruit and salad with this lovely hot weather we've been having ☀️

Stop waiting to feel motivated!

If you wait until you feel motivated to start then you'll probably never start at all. Motivation comes from actually doing the things that will get you the results you want.

Joining the gym, planning your meals, going for daily walks, once you start doing these things, and start to feel the benefits from them, it creates momentum and thats where the real motivation to change comes from.

Instead of waiting for motivation, start with just one thing today, whether thats prepping a meal, going for a walk, or going to bed a little earlier. Once you take that first step it's so much easier to take the next.

And if you struggle with any of this, drop me a DM to see how I can help.

Showing up imperfectly is better than not showing up at all

I haven't been to the gym in about 2 weeks, I somehow managed to hurt my back, no idea how I did it, although at 41 years old a slightly aggressive sneeze is probably enough to do it 😅

I could have just thought to myself "I'll start again when im feeling better" but let's be honest, that's the kind of thinking that keeps us stuck in the all or nothing cycle

Instead, I did what I could manage. Still went for daily walks, much slower and shorter ones than normal, but Nuala also still has an injured leg so we both needed to take it easy

I've still eaten in a deficit, even with taking my neice out for breakfast and eating ice cream every day this week because it's been that hot I feel like im living on the sun 🥵

I prioritised sleep and rest for recovery, which has been fantastic for my reading goals, managed to read the first 3 books in the off campus series in a week (and also binge watched the tv show 😂)

You don’t need to be perfect to get results. Infact, aiming for perfection is probably what's holding you back. Life is rarely perfect, and thats why you need a plan that works even on those imperfect days.

If this is something you struggle with, drop me a DM and we can find a way that works for you

Can you lose fat and still eat pancakes?

Absolutely.

Sometimes a busy schedule means choosing convenience, and that is 100% okay.

These are shop bought pancakes topped with raspberries and a drizzle of caramel (been out all day so couldn't be bothered to make my own 😅)

Sometimes our food choices aren’t about food at all.

They’re about tiredness. Stress. Habit. Being on autopilot.

This isn’t about stopping yourself from eating.
It’s about slowing things down just enough to check in.

Sometimes food is exactly what you need.
Sometimes it isn’t.

Neither is “good” or “bad”.

It's just about creating awareness.

If this resonates, save it for a busy day 💚
