Struggling through the holidays?

Have you found the summer holidays a bit of a struggle?
Feeling like parenting has become more of a chore than a joy?

What if you could learn simple, therapeutic skills to help you understand your child, strengthen your relationship and actually enjoy spending time together again?

I’m running a 10-week Therapeutic Parenting course, teaching parents practical, therapeutic play skills that you can use with your children at home. 🌱

• Small, welcoming group
• Practical skills you can use straight away
• Particularly helpful for families with neurodivergent children
• Skills that you can keep using for years to come
• Reduced cost for the first group of the new academic year

If you’d like to start September with a fresh approach, build a stronger connection with your child and gain skills that will stay with you for life, send me a message for more information.

Let’s make parenting feel a little more connected, confident and joyful again.

And that’s me… signing off for two weeks. 🌿🤍

If you’ve worked with me before, you’ll have probably heard me talk about filling our own bucket, recharging our batteries, and putting our own oxygen mask on first. It’s something I encourage the children, parents, and families I support to remember—but it’s something I need to practise too.

The last few months have brought so many changes, both personally and professionally. They’ve been full of growth, emotion, challenge, and so much gratitude. I absolutely love the work I do, and I feel incredibly privileged to walk alongside children and families during some of their hardest moments. But to do that well, I also need to make space to pause, rest, and refill my own cup.

So for the next two weeks, I’m choosing family time, fresh air, adventures, slower mornings, laughter, and making memories.

Thank you to every family who has trusted me, every child who has invited me into their world through play, and everyone who continues to support Pear Trees and Bees. Your trust means more than you know.

I hope wherever you are, you can find a little time to be kind to yourself too. Rest isn’t something we have to earn—it’s something we all deserve.

See you soon, with a full bucket, a recharged battery, and ready to support more little hearts. 💚🌳🐝

Children’s nervous systems work harder in the heat. More meltdowns, shorter tempers, and lower frustration tolerance are completely understandable. Slowing down, staying hydrated, engaging in water play, and creating cool, calming spaces can support emotional regulation. We all do better when our bodies feel safe and comfortable.

One of the biggest pressures many parents and carers face is the feeling that they are expected to “fix” a child’s behaviour.

It’s not always said directly, but it can often be felt in meetings, school conversations, reports, and the way progress is measured.

“How quickly are things improving?”“Are the behaviours reducing?”“What strategies are working?”

Sometimes it can feel as though healing should follow a clear timeline — that with the right support, the right parenting, or the right intervention, everything should begin to settle quickly and neatly. But children who have experienced trauma don’t heal in straight lines.

When you’re caring for a child who has lived through loss, fear, instability, or difficult early experiences, it’s easy to start feeling under pressure yourself. You can find yourself focusing so much on behaviours and outcomes that you lose sight of what the child may actually be communicating underneath it all.

Children who have experienced trauma do not need “fixing.”

They need to feel safe. They need consistency. They need connection. They need adults who can stay alongside them, even when progress feels slow, messy, or uncertain.

In my experience, the real shift often happens when we stop asking, “How do we stop this behaviour?” and start asking, “What might this child be needing from us right now?”

That isn’t always easy, especially when families feel watched, judged, or under pressure to show visible progress. But meaningful, lasting change rarely comes through pressure or quick fixes.

It grows through safety, trust, patience, and relationships built over time.
