Just a quick reminder that there is no MYHAPS this week. Our next session will be on Wednesday 30th September, 7–8pm at The Living Well Hub.

If you’re struggling in the meantime, please don’t feel you have to wait until the next MYHAPS session. There are a number of mental health services available in Warrington that you can access for support:

HEALTH ANXIETY / GENERAL ANXIETY

If you want to know how anxious you are, sit still and give yourself five quiet minutes alone. Observe everything. Pay attention to what your body is holding onto—it’s remarkably good at signaling stress, but we rarely hear it over the noise of daily life.
We can be in threat mode without realising which can drain our energy and affect our sleep. Allow yourself permission to pause and check in. Doing this can sometimes feel uncomfortable. That’s ok. That means it worked. ❤️

Living with health anxiety can be exhausting. Sometimes it’s loud, overwhelming and impossible to ignore. Other times it’s much quieter – like a little grey cloud that follows you around, taking the shine off moments you should be enjoying.

Whatever health anxiety looks like for you, please know you don’t have to face it on your own. You can always pop along to MYHAPS to see if we can help. The next group is Wednesday 5th August. 7-8pm at The Living Well Hub.

Today marks 7 years since I gave up alcohol.

If you live with any form of anxiety, you’ll probably know that alcohol can seem like it helps. It numbs the anxiety for a little while, but when it wears off, it often comes back even stronger.

Giving up alcohol didn’t magically cure my anxiety, but it did lift the fog. It gave me the clarity to see what was really going on. Instead of constantly trying to push my anxiety away or hide from it, I was finally able to face it, understand it, and start working through it in a much healthier way.

For over 30 years, I carried the weight of constant worry — always fearing that something was wrong with my health and that I had a serious illness or disease.

It took me a long time to realise that health anxiety was taking away precious moments of my life. The truth is, life doesn’t have to be lived in a constant state of fear.

If your worries are stopping you from enjoying life, please take that first step. Reach out to someone — a support group, a friend, your GP, a work colleague, or anyone you trust.

You don’t have to struggle in silence, and you don’t have to wait years like I did. There is hope, there is support, and things really can get better.

❤️
