The Private Ambulance - Transferring Loved Ones Into Care
When a loved one dies it is imperative that family and friends alike place both confidence and trust in us to look after them and, in doing this are offered absolute reassurance that they will be looked after in a respectful and dignified manner.
From the very first phone call or interaction our team act in the best interests of the family offering, guidance, support, advice, input, answers and in a number of cases simply just a listening ear.
Following the loss of a loved one the first form of meaningful, face to face contact a family will often experience is when our private ambulance team make their way to a private address or nursing home.
Upon arrival the Funeral Service Operative will introduce themselves to the family or, in some cases the nursing team, they will talk through what happens next, answer any questions and then ask to see the individual who has passed away. At this point the ambulance team will discuss and confirm a number of details with the family or care team including the correct spelling of names and any instructions for jewellery or other personal effects.
Once the team have assessed the situation and completed the required documentation, the physical transfer will commence. The individual will be placed onto a clean sheet and then moved onto a stretcher in a dignified fashion. A small pillow will be placed under their head and a sheet over the top of them.
Before leaving the residence or care home, families will be offered a final opportunity to say farewell, often lining the driveway as a tribute, holding a hand or giving their loved one a kiss goodbye. The team will then place the individual onto our private ambulance for transfer to the funeral home.
