What does it mean when I say I'm a neurodivergent-affirming counsellor?
It means I don't see your brain as something that needs fixing.
Whether you're autistic, ADHD, dyslexic, dyspraxic, AuDHD, or you're exploring whether you're neurodivergent, therapy with me starts from the belief that your differences are valid—not flaws.
Many neurodivergent people have spent years masking, adapting, and wondering why life feels so exhausting. Often they've been told they're "too sensitive," "too much," "lazy," or "not trying hard enough." Therapy shouldn't repeat those messages.
Instead, we'll work together to understand you.
We'll explore:
🌱 What brings you to therapy and what's happening for you now.
🌱 How your life experiences, relationships, and nervous system have shaped the way you cope.
🌱 Your strengths, interests, values, and the things that help you feel safe and regulated.
🌱 The impact of burnout, masking, sensory differences, trauma, or feeling misunderstood.
🌱 What you need—not what other people expect of you.
Rather than asking, "What's wrong with you?" we'll gently ask, "What has happened to you, what makes sense for your brain, and what do you need to thrive?"
A neurodivergent-affirming approach also means therapy is flexible. You don't need to force eye contact, sit still, communicate in a particular way, or fit into a traditional idea of what therapy "should" look like.
You are welcome exactly as you are.
The relationship we build is at the heart of our work together. My role is to offer curiosity, compassion, and collaboration—not judgement. Together we can make sense of your experiences, understand your patterns, and find ways of living that feel more authentic, sustainable, and aligned with who you really are.
Because healing isn't about becoming someone else.
It's about feeling safe enough to become more fully yourself. 💚
