Are you a health professional with clients reporting low energy? I would imagine so. It's a common theme in 21st C living.

Join us on 14th September from 1-2 pm for the next in our FREE lunchtime webinar series with W-Wellness. I know, it seems a long way off as we are in July BUT it's good to get it in your diary as places are limited.

This time I am in conversation with the wonderful Helen Drake from Cytoplan Limited and we are discussing the importance of assessing whether mitochondrial dysfunction may be underlying a client's energy issues.

Key topics include:

• Essential nutrients for healthy mitochondria

• What drives mitochondrial dysfunction?

• Biogenesis, mitophagy and hormetic stress

• Applying mitochondrial support in chronic fatigue syndrome

• Targeted supplement strategies for practice

Our aim is that you leave with practical tools to identify mitochondrial dysfunction and implement effective, evidence-based interventions.

Do you feel drawn back to the ocean and why is this? A concept now termed as 'Blue Health' is utterly fascinating. Read on at the link below and leave a comment below - how does the sea affect you?

The sea seems to have a remarkable ability to put us back together.  Perhaps it is the vast horizon stretching beyond the limits of our everyday concerns, pulling the gaze outward instead of inward. Perhaps it is the rhythmic crash of waves, nature’s own form of meditation, or the salt-lad

4 things this trip has reminded me ro keep in mind -
1. Fear of change and walking outside of the norm can hold us back. Once we shake off the fear and start living how we instinctively knows works, we open up doors of opportunity and certainly happiness. Have faith and good things happen. And we won’t get all of it right, but let’s not be scared of that either!
2. We can often get caught up in dialogue that makes us feel old or steers us into a less adventurous, challenging or intrepid way of life. Expectations and judgements tangle our thoughts on how we should be operating over 50. And I’m wholeheartedly pleased we are having more discussions about the menopause & longevity but lets also not get defined by age brackets and letting ‘women can’t fast/ cold plunge/ skip breakfast/ run a marathon’ because of their hormones conversations create obstacles. You do you.
3. I admit to feeling guilty about relaxation. It’s an inbuilt ‘go to’ thought process I have to keep working on. Burn out is not to be worn like a badge of honour. And I had the pleasure of long and deep conversations in Lisbon which helped me unpick this. It’s ok to relax … this is a work in progress for me but I’ll get there 🤞🏽 … and thank you Michal for shining light on the roots 😉
4. I love to sit in the morning light for many reasons. One is that it helps me keep in mind that we can embrace each day with positivity and hope. Yesterday has gone - learn from it and move forward with a bright spirit. Let things unfold.

Yesterday I sat on these swings writing an article for a magazine on ‘The Pursuit of the Unfamiliar’, the Atlantic Ocean thrashing ahead of me, drowning out the sound of anything other than ‘the wild’.
For some’ ‘renewal’ lies beyond routine, it’s about embracing the unfamiliar, taking ourselves away from the norm and saturating ourselves in all that is new.
Seeing the world through a different lens, stepping away from the unfamiliar allows us to shift from autopilot into being right here right now
Novelty demands presence
New environments interrupt habitual thought patterns
We stop replaying the same concerns because our attention is captured by what lies around us
Perspective shifts as we realise there are many ways to live, think and be
The world feels larger and so our problems feel more proportionate
Perhaps the value of the unfamiliar is not that it changes the world around us, but that it changes our relationship with it, inviting us back into the present moment. Could curiosity be one of wellbeing’s most underrated ingredients?

It’s hard to explain why a place ‘captures you’ … the big blue skies, the light, the streets that hum with life, the inclines that would even challenge those Blue Zones shepherds … the buzz of the plazas as the sun sinks, the lively conversations, the effortless style, the coffee, the wine ….
Today I had breakfast in perhaps my (new) favourite Lisbon coffee shop over some fabulously long conversations, visited a longevity club (heaven) walked through streets dripping with purple blossom, train ride to the beach with more chat 🫶🏽 …. And so much more
Lisbon encapsulates for me how exciting moments are when we step outside the box 🌍
Onward tomorrow to pastures new … but already excited to return. Love you Lisbon
