☀️ Holiday mode… but still learning! 📚
One of the things I love about studying nutrition is that it constantly challenges what we think we know.
Today’s lecture covered one of the biggest nutrition myths…
🍽️ Does eating little and often boost your metabolism?
For years we’ve been told that eating 6–10 small meals a day will:
✨ “Boost your metabolism”
✨ “Keep the metabolic fire burning”
✨ Prevent your body from going into “starvation mode”
But the evidence doesn’t support this.
Research shows that meal frequency doesn’t significantly affect weight loss, provided your overall calorie intake and food choices are the same.
Interestingly, some research has found that having a larger breakfast and a smaller evening meal may improve satiety, blood sugar control and support weight loss in some people.
Rather than stressing about eating every 2–3 hours, it’s far more helpful to ask:
✔️ Am I eating enough protein?
✔️ Am I getting plenty of fibre?
✔️ Does this way of eating suit my lifestyle?
✔️ Can I maintain it long term?
Nutrition isn’t about following rules or chasing the latest trend. It’s about understanding the evidence and finding what works for you.
Even while enjoying some sunshine in Crete, I’m squeezing in a little study each day. There’s always something new to learn, and I can’t wait to bring that knowledge into my future coaching. 🌴📖💚
