Sayeeda Alam | Sada Yoga

Yoga Teacher & Ayurvedic Lifestyle Advisor

Sayeeda embodies dedication as a yoga student, teacher, and Ayurvedic lifestyle advisor and her passion lies in supporting holistic well-being and spiritual balance. Having navigated cycles of addictive behaviour, depression, anxiety, and chronic illness for much of her life, discovering Yoga & Ayurveda became the foundation of

her ability to find inner peace & physical healing. Motivated by her personal transformation journey, she embarked on the path of becoming a yoga teacher & Ayurvedic lifestyle advisor, driven by a deep desire to guide others on their own unique paths toward personal and spiritual growth. Her teaching style seamlessly blends ancient yogic wisdom with contemporary insights, guiding students to explore their bodies and minds through posture, pranayama, philosophy, and meditation. Sayeeda embraces the dynamic nature of each student's journey and recognises that their needs evolve, so she offers a diverse range of yoga styles to cater to this fluidity. Understanding that each practitioner seeks something unique on the mat, she aims to create a space where individuals can explore and find resonance in various practices. As an Ayurvedic lifestyle advisor, Sayeeda uses the wisdom of this ancient healing system to offer individually tailored guidance to enhance well-being and foster vitality. She works closely with individuals to assess their unique constitution and imbalances and offers practical guidance on daily routines, nutrition, stress management, and how to use herbs & spices to help restore harmony and balance in both body and mind. She deeply believes in Yoga and Ayurveda's transformative potential to instill equilibrium and well-being across every facet of life. Qualifications

I believe deeply in the value of yoga, spirituality and philosophy.

I just don’t believe anyone gets to promise you what they’ll do for your life.

There’s a big difference between offering someone a practice that “may” support them and selling them a guaranteed transformation.

I think we need to talk about the difference more.

I’m not against spirituality. I’m against spirituality being used to blame people for their suffering, avoid accountability and disguise privilege as enlightenment.

A spiritual practice should help us meet reality with more honesty, not explain away illness, inequality, anger or pain because they make us uncomfortable.

What would you add to the list?

And if this expresses something you struggled to put into words, please share it. These conversations need to reach beyond the people already having them.

Yoga doesn’t have to begin with large postures or deep stretches. Sometimes it begins with gently moving the fingers, wrists, ankles and toes.

Small movements can be adapted around pain, stiffness, fatigue or reduced mobility. They can also offer a slower way to reconnect with the body when illness, trauma or difficult medical experiences have made that relationship feel complicated.

This is part of what we’ll explore in Beginning Again: a four-week course in gentle joint mobility, breath and mindful movement.

Starting 18th September
In person or online
Recordings available for 60 days

I spend a lot of time here talking about yoga, chronic illness, rest and the things I’ve learned along the way. But I don’t often share much about who I am beyond my work.

Partly because I’m naturally quite private, and partly because putting yourself online can feel deeply uncomfortable when your instinct is to hide from the world.

Some of these experiences have directly shaped the way I teach. Others are simply parts of my life and the person I’ve become.

So, here are a few things you might not know about the person behind Sada Yoga.

Perhaps we have something unexpected in common… Let me know if we do!!

Knowing how different my life is when I have support compared to when I don’t is one of the biggest reasons I teach the way I do.

Support doesn’t solve everything. It doesn’t make chronic illness disappear.

But being listened to, understood, believed, and feeling like you belong somewhere can make an incredibly difficult life feel just that little bit less lonely.

This post is about why that matters so much to me.

We often assume that we can do more we should.

Go further.
Work harder.
Push a little deeper.

This conversation after class made me question that assumption and reminded me that Yoga is often less interested in our maximum and more interested in our relationship with what we’re doing and how we’re doing it.

I’d love to know your thoughts of reading through the slides.

We live in a world that rewards productivity.

So when your body asks you to slow down, it’s hardly surprising that guilt shows up.

Yoga doesn’t tell us to ignore that guilt or simply think positively.

Instead, it invites us to become curious about it.

Where did it come from?

Is it actually true?

What happens if, just for today, we listen to the body instead of arguing with it?

Perhaps today’s practice isn’t doing more.

Perhaps it’s simply noticing what happens when you allow yourself to do less.

Thinking about trying yoga?

Beginning Again is a four-week course for anyone who wants to discover that yoga is about far more than the postures. We'll explore gentle movement, breath, relaxation and practical tools you can take into everyday life.

Starts in September. No experience needed.

If healing feels exhausting, it’s probably because you’ve been told to keep doing more.

Sometimes your Yoga practice doesn’t need to make you better.

Sometimes it just needs to remind you that you were never as broken as you were allowed to believe.

I’ve been dreaming up something new...

With the Reconnect Retreat next April almost fully booked, I’m wondering whether there might be room for an autumn retreat too.

Root & Restore would be a chance to pause as the seasons begin to change.

In Ayurveda, autumn is a time when we naturally start moving from the expansiveness of summer towards a quieter, more inward season. The retreat would be inspired by that transition, with yoga, meditation, Yoga Nidra and simple Ayurvedic practices designed to help you feel more grounded, steady and supported as we move into autumn.

There would, of course, be plenty of time to rest, enjoy nourishing food, spend time in nature, use the pool and sauna, and simply slow down.

🍂 Proposed dates: 10–13 September 2027. Newhouse Farm Cottages

Nothing is booked just yet, but before I start planning I’d love to know...

Is this something you’d be interested in?

Let me know in the comments or send me a message. Your feedback will help me decide whether to bring Root & Restore to life.
