One of the questions we hear most often is whether a particular professional background is the right fit for the Diploma. We work with a wider range than people expect!

Learners arrive from psychotherapy and counselling backgrounds, from coaching, from social work and nursing, from teaching, from somatic and bodywork practices, and occasionally from corporate leadership. Some have decades of clinical experience, and some are at the start of a career change. The Level 4 EFL Diploma works for those without a clinical qualification whereas the Level 5 EFP Diploma is specifically for those who do.

The Recognised Prior Learning (RPL) route means relevant qualifications and experience are properly credited so nothing has to be repeated for the sake of it, giving you more time to focus on new material for full comprehension and time efficiency.

Meet Billy.

He is eleven, a Cob, and his eyes are ice-blue. He is the one who comes to find you; not always, and not for everyone, but when someone in a session begins to feel something they cannot quite name, Billy is often the horse who notices first.

He will bring his head to a person’s chest and hold himself there. Sometimes he breathes against their face. He has partial hearing, which means the noise at the edges of the yard does not pull his attention the way it does for the others. He listens to what is in front of him.

When the people around him are settled, he softens. When they are not, he watches in a way that is difficult to describe without sounding like you are overstating it, and yet everyone who has been in a session with him will know exactly what is meant.

He works particularly well with people carrying loss, grief, or the kind of sadness that has not yet found its shape in words.

He is a quiet teacher. A great deal of what we understand about co-regulation in equine facilitated practice, we have learned from being in the field with horses like Billy.

The next Intro Day is in September in Berkshire, and it is the next opportunity to meet him properly. Link in bio.

Yesterday in Berkshire, another group arrived for an Intro Day. Different to the last one, the way every group is different, because the work meets each person in a different place.

Thank you for coming and trusting the process when it asked you to slow down, and most importantly trusting the herd when they did what horses do, which is rarely what we expect.

For those of you considering the autumn block, the Horse & Human Weekend on 26th-27th September is the deeper version of yesterday, but as both count as the prerequisite for the Diploma, and you only need to attend one.

A question we’re asked more often than people might expect: what happens after the Diploma?

Qualifying isn’t the end of the work. For most LEAP graduates, it’s the start of figuring out how to integrate this practice with their existing one, find their first clients, set their fees, decide how their practice is structured, and stay supervised as their work develops.

We offer post-qualification mentorship as a core part of what LEAP membership includes. That covers supervision, business support, peer community, ongoing CPD, and the practical questions that come up when you’re a year into running EFP sessions and need someone to talk it through with.

We don’t charge an annual membership fee on top of your qualification. Membership comes with the qualification.

If you have been sitting with curiosity about this work, wondering what it would actually feel like to be in a field with a horse and a client and a question worth asking, the Intro Day on 19th of July is the place to find out.

You do not need to know anything about horses. You do not need to have decided anything yet. The day is designed for exactly the moment you are in; interested, perhaps a little uncertain, and wanting to understand what equine facilitated learning and psychotherapy actually look like in practice before you commit to anything further.

It is also worth knowing that this is the last Intro Day before the summer break. The next one is in September, which is the final one of the year, and the autumn programme fills from there.

If July feels too soon, September is still available. But if part of you already knows this is the direction you are heading, July is the better place to start.

The next Intro Day in Berkshire is THIS SUNDAY, 19 July. It’s a single day, hands-on, designed for people who want to experience what we do before committing to anything longer.

No horse experience needed. No therapy background required. You’ll meet the herd, work through some of the foundational LEAP Method exercises, and have time to ask the questions you’ve been quietly carrying for a while.

It is your last opportunity before our summer break to attend. Limited spots are available, so reserve yours now at the link in bio!
