9 sneaky acne triggers…
Mobile phones - we put our phones down all over the place and then put them on our face. This can lead to breakouts due to bacteria on your device, so it’s good to clean them regularly.
Touching your face - same as with your phone, we touch so many things throughout the day so try to avoid touching your face and always wash your hands before your skincare routine!
Hair products - be careful when applying serums that they don’t drip onto your face and always cleanse your face after washing your hair, so you don’t have shampoo or conditioner residue left on your skin!
Glasses - ever had a pesky spot where your glasses / sunglasses sit? It’s good to clean your glasses regularly too!
Make up brushes - When you don’t wash your brushes, they accumulate bacteria & dirt. Deep clean your brushes once a week as well as using an anti bacterial make up brush spray daily.
Toothpaste - remember the days where we used to think putting toothpaste on a spot would help it 🙈 The ingredients in toothpaste can be irritating on the skin so it’s a good habit to clean your teeth before your wash your face. At least if you’re messy like me 🤪
Food residue - I’m not just messy with my toothpaste, I’m messy with food too 🤣🤣 make sure you’re wiping away any food residue to prevent breakouts around your mouth.
Cotton pillowcases - try switching it up for a silk pillowcase. They absorb less moisture and dirt from your face & hair so are much more hygienic. Silk pillowcases are also more gentle on the skin so are great for people with blemish prone or sensitive skin. Also watch out for pillow mists, these aren’t always acne friendly!
Caps - a great way to protect yourself from the sun, however you want to make sure you’re washing your hats regularly! Friction of hats, coupled with sweat can cause breakouts / irritation on your head!
