Heidi Fitness 360 - Injury & Performance Clinic Recovery, Strength and Fuelling
I work with people to help them manage injuries, relax tight muscles, eat better and live a healthier lifestyle.

I have a Masters degree in Sports Therapy, and work full time in sports injury clinics in Hartley Wintney and Godalming. Outside of these hours, I offer a mobile service to assess and manage your injuries in your own home.

You don’t have to be perfect to make progress. 💙

One of the biggest things that can get in the way of improving your health and fitness is feeling like you have to do everything “right” all of the time.

But real life doesn’t work like that.

The 80/20 rule is a simple way of looking at balance:

✨ 80% — make choices that support your health, fitness and goals.
✨ 20% — give yourself permission to relax, enjoy yourself and live your life.

That might mean enjoying a takeaway, having dessert, skipping a workout to see friends, or simply not worrying about whether every meal is perfectly balanced.

And that’s okay.

In fact, allowing some flexibility can make healthy habits more sustainable, reduce the pressure to be perfect and help you maintain them long-term.

Because the goal isn’t to be healthy sometimes and “unhealthy” at other times. The goal is to build a lifestyle that you can actually enjoy living.

Balance > perfection. 💙

The home clinic is growing, and with every new happy customer, there is the potential to help more and more people 🥰

Small businesses really do survive off of personal recommendations, especially in this current world where everyone thinks AI holds all the answers, so THANK YOU to anyone who has ever said “go and see Heidi, she’ll help you” 🥰

I’m forever grateful, and please know that you genuinely make me excited whenever I hear that my details have been passed on to someone else 🙏🏻

You can’t not get emotionally invested in each and every customer that you see, so when someone trusts you & your skills enough to send someone else your way, what a reward 🥰

If you don’t like cats, they’ll remain firmly outside of my Therapy Room.
But if you do like cats, you might have to watch your step because mine have a tendency to lie exactly where you want to walk 😂

In a bid to keep clients cool in the hot weather, sometimes I leave the Therapy Room door open, or even move the couch into the cooler part of the house, and Pippin loves being involved 😂
Poppy will happily watch from a safe distance, because you never can fully trust a human not to want to floof your fluff 😜

So what actually is a Sports Therapist? 🤔

There’s a lot of confusion over our job role, and it’s not hard to understand why when there are so many different types of practitioner who can deal with injuries.

Sports Therapists are clinicians who have achieved an accredited University degree, giving us the skills and knowledge to assess, treat, rehabilitate and prevent injuries.

We use a range of treatment techniques, which includes sports massage, but we have a lot more knowledge on diagnosis & treatment than a Sports Massage Therapist. We also are not Physiotherapists, but we have the same level of diagnostic/injury management knowledge, and often a higher level of hands on treatment skill.

So if you have a ni**le and want to resolve it before it becomes a real problem, or you are currently hampered by an injury, consider speaking to a Sports Therapist! We combine the skills of physios, massage therapists and strength coaches, to get you back where you want to be!

Habits habits habits 👌🏻

I’ve surprised myself by making it on a walk every day in June and July so far, and it’s definitely not feeling like a chore anymore.
I genuinely look forward to it; the time where I can decompress from a mentally stimulating job, and reset before tomorrow.

My younger self would roll her eyes at me now, but it really beats that extra 45mins spent sat on the sofa watching mindless TV!

My challenge to myself: keep this going all throughout the year, even when the weather isn’t as nice!

What’s a healthy habit you started that you now look forward to?

How do you know if you’re drinking enough?

Dehydration has significant negative effects on both our brains and our bodies, therefore it’s very important to make sure we are drinking enough throughout the day. BUT the body is not very good at letting us know when it needs a drink! Helpful, I know 🙄

Thirst is NOT a reliable indicator of how hydrated you are, therefore we need to rely on other methods…

Get in the habit of checking the colour of your urine every time you go to the toilet. If it’s looking yellow or darker, make sure you take small sips of water over the next hour until you go to the toilet again, and can reassess hydration status.
If you’ve haven’t passed any urine for several hours, or the urine volume is small, this is also an indicator that you are not optimally hydrated.

If you take any medications or vitamin tablets, these can alter the colour of your urine, so learn what is normal for you! And if you are ever concerned that your body is significantly dehydrated, and you can’t properly rehydrate, seek medical advice ASAP.

There are other tips you can use in the heat to help maintain your hydration, and keep your body happy and healthy!

Save this post, and share with your loved ones to help everyone keep hydrated.

Consistency always wins!

If you have a health goal, the behaviour change you choose to achieve it has a big impact on your success.

Let’s say your goal is to get fitter, so your behaviour change is to do a fitness class 5 times a week. Month One, you’re motivated, and you hit all 5 classes. Then you get busy in Month Two, and only go 2 times a week. By Month Three, you’re thinking it’s not working, so you cancel your membership. The ultimate outcome = goal not achieved.

But let’s say you decided to try a 30min walk twice a week. You know that won’t improve your fitness as quickly as 5 classes a week BUT you know you can stick to it 52 weeks of the year. After 12months, your fitness will have improved so much more than if you’d tried, and failed, to stick to 5 classes a week.

The lesson? Have your end goal in sight, but focus on the short term changes that you make.
Ensure whatever change you decide to implement, you are still going to be able to stick to it 12months later.
