Anatomical implants are one of the most advanced options available in modern breast surgery.

Mentor anatomical implants (often shaped like a natural teardrop) are designed to closely replicate the natural slope of the breast. Unlike round implants, they have more volume towards the lower part, which can create a very natural-looking contour, particularly in patients who want subtle, elegant enhancement or who have less natural breast tissue.

These implants are commonly used in both cosmetic breast augmentation and reconstructive breast surgery, and are available in a range of sizes and projections to suit different body shapes and goals.

One of the key benefits is the ability to achieve a softer, more anatomical breast shape, especially in patients looking for a discreet and natural result. As with all implants, careful planning and a detailed consultation are essential to choose the right type, size, and position for each individual.

If you are considering breast augmentation and would like to explore whether anatomical implants are right for you, please contact the Reception team at Coppergate Clinic to arrange a consultation.

One of the most important parts of any surgical journey is the consultation process.

Before any decisions are made, I believe it is essential that every patient has a thorough face-to-face consultation. This is your opportunity to discuss your goals, ask questions, understand your options, and receive honest, personalised advice about whether a procedure is right for you.

During the consultation, we will talk in detail about the surgery itself, the expected recovery, potential risks and complications, and the results that can realistically be achieved. Just as importantly, it gives me the opportunity to get to know you, understand your expectations, and ensure that surgery is appropriate for your individual circumstances.

There should never be any pressure to make a decision on the day. In cosmetic surgery, a cooling-off period is an important part of the process, giving you time to carefully consider all the information discussed and make an informed decision in your own time.

Choosing to undergo surgery is a significant decision, and my role is to ensure you feel fully informed, comfortable, and confident every step of the way.

If you would like to arrange a consultation with me, please contact the Reception team at Coppergate Clinic in York who will be happy to assist.

What exactly is a tummy tuck?

A tummy tuck, also known as an abdominoplasty, is one of the most popular body contouring procedures I perform.

Many patients come to see me after pregnancy, significant weight loss, or simply because they are struggling with loose skin and changes to the shape of their abdomen that cannot be improved through diet and exercise alone.

A tummy tuck is designed to remove excess skin and fat while also tightening the abdominal muscles when required. This can help create a flatter, firmer, and more defined abdominal contour.

What many people donโ€™t realise is that there isnโ€™t just one type of tummy tuck. Depending on your anatomy and goals, a mini tummy tuck, full abdominoplasty, extended tummy tuck, or Fleur-de-Lis procedure may be more appropriate.

During your consultation, I will carefully assess you, discuss your goals, explain the different options available, and help determine which procedure is best suited to your individual needs.

If you would like to arrange a consultation with me, please contact the Reception team at Coppergate Clinic in York who will be happy to assist.

An abdominoplasty, more commonly known as a tummy tuck, is a surgical procedure designed to improve the shape and contour of the abdomen.

Over time, factors such as pregnancy, weight loss, ageing, or changes in skin elasticity can lead to excess skin, stubborn pockets of fat, and separation of the abdominal muscles. Unfortunately, these changes cannot always be improved through diet and exercise alone.

A tummy tuck works by removing excess skin and fat from the abdomen and, where necessary, repairing and tightening the abdominal muscles. The result is often a flatter, firmer, and more toned abdominal profile.

There are several different types of tummy tuck procedures, including mini tummy tucks, full abdominoplasty, extended tummy tucks, and Fleur-de-Lis tummy tucks. During a consultation, we would discuss which option is most appropriate for your individual anatomy and goals.

Every patient is different, which is why a personalised assessment is so important.

If you would like to find out whether an abdominoplasty is right for you, please contact the Reception team at Coppergate Clinic in York to arrange a consultation.

How do you find a plastic surgeon in the UK with the right qualifications?

It can be incredibly confusing. With so much information online and so many practitioners offering cosmetic procedures, it isnโ€™t always easy to understand who is appropriately qualified and trained to perform plastic surgery.

One of the most important things patients can do is check whether their surgeon is on the GMC Specialist Register for Plastic Surgery and ask about their training, qualifications, NHS experience, and specialist areas of practice.

Becoming a Consultant Plastic Surgeon in the UK involves many years of medical school, surgical training, specialist plastic surgery training, examinations, and ongoing professional development. It is a long and rigorous process designed to ensure the highest standards of patient care and safety.

Alongside my private practice, I also work as an NHS Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon, and I have recorded an entire podcast discussing my own background, training journey, and how patients can navigate the process of choosing a suitably qualified surgeon.

My hope is that it helps patients make informed decisions and understand what to look for when considering surgery.

Patient safety should always come first.

Welcome, June! โ˜€๏ธ

What a busy month May has been.

It has been such a pleasure meeting so many new patients in clinic, as well as seeing lots of familiar faces returning for their follow-up appointments. One of the most rewarding aspects of my work is being able to support patients throughout their entire journey, from their initial consultation through to their final results.

The next few months are looking incredibly busy, with a full operating list and consultations across a wide range of procedures. I am always grateful for the trust that my patients place in me and my team.

If you are considering surgery and would like to book a consultation with me, please contact the Reception team at Coppergate Clinic in York. They will be delighted to help arrange an appointment and discuss current availability.

I look forward to meeting many more of you over the coming months.

A fantastic few days attending the Mentor Breast Symposium 2026 in Bucharest alongside colleagues from across the world specialising in aesthetic and reconstructive breast surgery.

Events like this are incredibly valuable for sharing knowledge, discussing complex cases, reviewing real patient outcomes, and exploring the latest developments in modern breast surgery. The focus on โ€œReal Cases, Real Resultsโ€ and the importance of evidence-based practice, quality, and patient safety made for an excellent programme.

From live surgery and expert panel discussions to interactive case-based learning, it was a brilliant opportunity to continue refining techniques and staying at the forefront of developments within breast surgery for the benefit of patients.

It was also a pleasure to hear from respected UK colleagues including Paul Harris and Marc Pacifico, alongside many outstanding international speakers. Learning from shared experience and different perspectives is such an important part of continuous professional development.

Thank you to and for organising such an excellent meeting.

There are many different types of tummy tucks โ€” and during your consultation we will discuss which approach is the most suitable for you.

An Abdominoplasty is never a one-size-fits-all procedure. Depending on your anatomy, skin quality, muscle separation, previous weight loss, and goals, the most appropriate option may be a mini tummy tuck, full abdominoplasty, extended tummy tuck, or Fleur-de-Lis procedure.

The consultation process is an important opportunity to carefully assess your concerns, talk through the differences between procedures, discuss recovery and scarring, and create a personalised treatment plan tailored specifically to you.

Every patient is different, and the aim is always to achieve safe, natural-looking results that complement your body shape.

If you would like to book a consultation with me, please contact the Reception team at Coppergate Clinic who will be very happy to assist.

What is an upper blepharoplasty?

An Upper Blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure designed to remove excess skin (and sometimes small amounts of fat) from the upper eyelids. Over time, the eyelid skin can become loose and heavy, which can create a tired appearance and, in some cases, even affect vision.

By carefully removing this excess tissue, the eyes can appear brighter, more open, and more refreshed โ€” while still looking completely natural.

This is a very common and popular procedure here at Coppergate Clinic, often performed as a day case with a relatively straightforward recovery. Scars are discreetly placed within the natural crease of the eyelid, meaning they are usually very well hidden once healed.

If you are concerned about heavy or drooping eyelids, an upper blepharoplasty can be a very effective solution.

If you would like to book a consultation, please contact the Reception team at Coppergate Clinic who will be happy to assist.
