✨ A New Chapter Chocolate Works Care Village ✨

Today marked the start of offering nail services from my little salon space at Chocolate Works Care Village in York. 💅🐝

Earlier this year I began providing weekly hand care sessions for residents who are unable to make it to the salon. These sessions have become a lovely part of my week, offering not only nail care but also an opportunity for conversation, connection and a little time dedicated to self care.

Today it was wonderful to welcome my first salon nail clients into the space and begin offering treatments from the salon itself.

One of the things I love most about what I do is that wellbeing can take many forms. Sometimes it's chair fitness, yoga, sometimes it's a wellness session and sometimes it's simply sitting down, having your nails done and taking time for yourself.

I'm looking forward to seeing this service grow and continuing to support residents and the wider Chocolate Works Community.

A big thank you to everyone who has supported Simply Bee Wellness on this journey so far 🐝❤️

This we week we had the privilege of working alongside Jordan's Retreat and the lovely Virna ❤️

We spent time talking about Jordan and his wish for his mum to continue the fantastic work she now does supporting children with life limiting health conditions and their families.

Three wonderful mums joined us for a wellness afternoon at Kirk Hammerton.

Together we created space for connection, self care and a little time to focus on themselves through conversation, facials, massage, hand care, breathwork and mindfulness.

They also enjoyed a make up lesson with the incredibly talented Virna, who is not only lovely but a true inspiration to work alongside.

To top it all off, we were treated to a beautiful afternoon tea with fizz, which was absolutely lovely! 🥂

Sometimes wellness is not about fixing anything. Sometimes it is simply about creating space for people to pause, breathe, feel supported and be cared for.

Seeing the support Jordan's Retreat provides to families has been incredibly moving.

This Sunday I am taking part in a Hardmoors race which is just under 10 miles. I don't normally ask for donations, but after seeing first hand the difference Jordan's Retreat makes, I would love to raise some money to support their amazing work.

If you would like to donate, no matter how small, it would be hugely appreciated ❤️

Thank you Virna and Jordan's Retreat for allowing us to be part of something so special 🐝

Myself and Anna, Pranaflow are honoured to be working alongside Jordans Retreat next week.

We will be offering a self-care session for six women, mothers whose children are receiving hospice care. ❤️

There are not always words for situations like these.

Sometimes wellness is not about fixing anything. It is simply about creating space for people to breathe, pause, feel supported and cared for even if only for a little while.

We are deeply aware of what a privilege it is to have been invited to support this event alongside Jordans Retreat founder, Virna.

Virna created this charity in memory of her late son Jordan, after the heartbreaking loss of his life.

It feels incredibly special to be part of something built from such love, strength and compassion.

♥️Rest
💚Recharge
💙Reconnect

On a personal note, I also get to do this alongside my best friend, which makes it even more meaningful. ❤️🐝

✨ Thoughts Are Not Facts ✨

Last night I returned to my Monday evening yoga session after taking a month away from it.

This class was actually the very first session I started running over 3 years ago, so returning felt strange, emotional and slightly out of routine.

Alongside taking some time away, I also made the decision to reduce from two Monday evening classes down to one. Although I knew this felt right, it still brought a lot of anxious thoughts and self doubt: “What if people don’t come back?” “What if people don’t like the changes?” “What if this no longer works?”

As I often share with others — thoughts are not facts.

Sometimes we simply need to ride the wave of uncomfortable thoughts and feelings whilst reminding ourselves: “This will pass.” “This won’t always feel this intense.”

And the evidence I have gathered throughout my life so far also tells me that even if things don’t go to plan, I will still be okay. I am good at adapting, problem solving and finding a way through difficult situations when needed.

As I often say in yoga, and something we can all use off the mat in our day to day lives: what has been and gone is not here now, and what is to come is not here yet.
Bring your attention back to this moment.

Last night I had a room full of lovely yogis, familiar faces alongside some new ones too 🐝❤️

I bloody love what I do.

Did you know… something as simple as blowing bubbles can actually become difficult as we get older? 🫧

As we age, many people naturally lose strength, coordination and control in the muscles involved in breathing, posture and mouth movement. Conditions such as dementia, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, stroke, respiratory illness and general frailty can all affect a person’s ability to take a deep breath in and slowly control the breath out.
Blowing bubbles requires:

🫧 Breath control
🫧 Diaphragm activation
🫧 Lip and mouth coordination
🫧 Concentration and focus
🫧 Timing and gentle control

These are skills many of us take for granted when we are younger.

For some older adults, especially those living with dementia or neurological conditions, blowing bubbles can become frustrating, difficult or even impossible over time. That is why activities like this matter so much. They are not “just child’s play” — they support breathing, movement, cognition, coordination and emotional wellbeing in a gentle and joyful way.

And honestly… adults need to play too.

Somewhere along the way many of us
stop doing silly, playful things because we think we are supposed to “grow up”. But laughter, curiosity, movement and moments of childlike joy are incredibly healthy for the nervous system.

Bubbles are fun. Bubbles are regulating. Bubbles bring connection. Bubbles encourage breath. Bubbles make people smile.

You are never too old to act like a child sometimes 🐝♥️
