From the very beginning of Brenda’s Healing Herbs, I started with the little I had—buying bit by bit, clearing at GoCargo, saving for a year before I could manage to invest further, seeking advice from friends in business and walking the road to learn about concessions, grants, and funding. Even without funding, the concessions helped, and with Facebook ads, the support of friends, and reinvesting every small order, I kept going. I reached out to influencers, content creators, and business people, shared samples, and their reviews helped my business grow. I built my website, designed and redesigned labels countless times, researched packaging and preservation, and pushed through sleepless nights. On May 25th, Brenda’s Healing Herbs celebrates one year officially on the market, with over 800 customers served—a milestone I am proud of. This journey was made possible by the blood, sweat, tears, and faith in God, and by the unwavering support of my aunt Arlene Philip, my sisters Aneesa Romain and Tamara Philip, my brothers Tevin Philip and Isaiah Romain, my mother Brenda Philip and stepfather Devon Romain, my cousin and business partner Micah Joseph, and my friends Jennisha Greenidge and Akiel James who stood by me through late nights. I am deeply grateful to Denlyn, Ms. Sheila James, and my grand aunt Margaret Brown for believing in my dream, to my husband Joshua for working with me through rough patches, and to the team at Nexa Credit Union—Antonio Smith and Britney Jarvis—for their patience. To Kenroy Baptiste, Keve Charles, Kimmond Cummings, Wade Phillip, Kurt Parillon, and Royon Strachan, your business expertise and encouragement have been invaluable.
