According to W.H.O. Ghana, one-third of Ghanaians aged 30–79 years are living with hypertension. However half of Ghanaians living with this serious condition are not even aware they have it!

It was a pleasure welcoming students from Northeastern University, USA, to UGMC on 12th July 2026 for an immersive experiential learning visit. Through meaningful exposure to our clinical services and training programmes, the students gained valuable insights into the realities of healthcare delivery in Ghana.

Driven by a clear vision to position the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) as a world-class academic medical centre of repute in Ghana, our Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Abdul Samed - Tanko continues to champion strategic partnerships that advance excellence in patient care, training, research, and innovation.

As part of this commitment, Dr. Tanko recently engaged representatives of Cleveland Clinic London, UK, in high-level discussions to explore collaborative opportunities in complex care, shared care pathways, knowledge exchange, and healthcare innovation.

Such partnerships are expected to enhance the Centre's institutional capacity, promote clinical excellence, and expand access to world-class care for our patients.

Dr. Tanko also paid a courtesy call on Ghana's High Commissioner to the UK, H.E. Sabah Zita Benson during the visit. This meeting also reaffirmed the importance of strong diplomatic and institutional relationships in supporting the Centre's global aspirations.

Thirty (30) Departmental Heads, Unit Heads and Staff of the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) have been inducted as subject-matter experts, subject-interest experts and full members of the Chartered Institute of Supply Chain Management, Ghana (CISCM- Ghana).

The key note speaker for the ceremony, Director General of the Ghana Prison Service, Mrs. Patience Baffoe- Bonney Esq (who is also the 2025 CISCM Woman of the Year) reminded inductees that CISCM "provides the framework to align legal, operational, financial and technological into one cohesive system to ensure resilience, efficiency and sustainability in organisations and countries.

Mrs. Baffoe-Bonney also charged all inductees to embody CISCM's strategic focus of VISIBILITY, ACCEPTABILITY, RELEVANCE and GOOD CORPORATE CITIZENSHIP.

The induction and investiture ceremony of 194 CISCM members across all sectors of the Ghanaian economy, took place on 10th July 2026 in Accra.
