The Ghana Medical Trust Fund (GMTF) has signed a landmark partnership agreement with MDS-Lancet Laboratories Ghana Limited and Quest Medical Imaging, marking a significant step towards expanding access to quality diagnostic services and strengthening healthcare delivery across Ghana.

The partnership brings together the Ghana Medical Trust Fund’s mandate to support the prevention and treatment of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) with MDS-Lancet Laboratories Ghana Limited and Quest Medical Imagine, expertise in delivering world-class medical diagnostic services.

Through this collaboration, both institutions aim to improve access to timely, accurate, and reliable diagnostic testing, ensuring better health outcomes for patients nationwide.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Adjoa Obuobia Darko-Opoku, Administrator of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, described the agreement as a milestone in the Trust Fund’s efforts to build strategic partnerships that enhance healthcare delivery.

“Today marks a significant milestone as the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, MDS Lancet Laboratories Ghana Limited and Quest Medical Imaging formally establish a partnership that reflects our shared commitment to improving access to quality healthcare for the people of Ghana. Ga Mantse Throws Weight Behind Ghana Medical Trust Fund, Pledges Support as Fund Donates Towards Homowo Festival

The Ga Mantse, His Royal Majesty Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, has pledged his full support for the Ghana Medical Trust Fund (GMTF), describing the Trust Fund as a critical national intervention capable of transforming access to specialised healthcare and restoring hope to thousands of Ghanaians battling chronic and life-threatening diseases.

The assurance came when the Administrator of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, Adjoa Obuobia Darko-Opoku, led a high-powered delegation, including Board Member Dr. Adu Agyei Gyamfi and members of the Fund's management team, on a courtesy call to the Ga Mantse Palace ahead of this year's Homowo Festival.

The visit formed part of the Trust Fund's ongoing engagement with Ghana's traditional authorities to deepen partnerships, strengthen public awareness and rally national support behind its mission of ensuring that no Ghanaian is denied life-saving specialised healthcare because of financial hardship.

During the meeting, the delegation briefed the Ga Mantse on the remarkable progress made since the establishment of the Trust Fund, its growing impact on patients across the country, and its long-term vision of expanding access to specialised treatment while strengthening Ghana's healthcare system through investment in equipment, infrastructure, specialist training and research.

Welcoming the delegation, the Ga Mantse praised the vision behind the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, describing it as one of the most important healthcare interventions in recent years.

He emphasised that the health of a nation remains its greatest asset and that sustainable national development can only be achieved when citizens have access to quality healthcare.

His Royal Majesty pledged to use the influence of the Ga State to champion the work of the Trust Fund, urging Ghanaians, corporate institutions and development partners to support the initiative so that more lives can be saved.

Presenting the cheque, Managing Director Afetsi Awoonor described the donation as "an investment in lives, families and the future of our nation," and urged Corporate Ghana to support the Trust Fund's mission of ensuring no one is denied treatment because of financial constraints.

Receiving the donation, GMTF Administrator Adjoa Obuobia Darko-Opoku said every cedi donated represents hope for patients awaiting chemotherapy, dialysis, heart surgery, brain surgery and other critical interventions.

"This generous support will help us save more lives and bring hope to families who have exhausted every option," she said.

Hope for thousands of kidney patients took centre stage yesterday.

In a landmark engagement at the Head Office of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), the NHIA and the Ghana Medical Trust Fund (GMTF) met with the leadership of the Renal Patients Association of Ghana to confront one of the country's most pressing healthcare challenges.

The discussions went beyond identifying problems. They focused on practical solutions that can transform the lives of people living with kidney disease; from expanding access to life-saving medical support to strengthening collaboration between both institutions and fast-tracking policy interventions that will make kidney transplantation more accessible for Ghanaians.

For the Renal Patients Association, it was an opportunity to place the realities of thousands of patients directly before the country's key healthcare financing institutions.

For NHIA and the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, it was a reaffirmation of a shared commitment: that no Ghanaian should lose hope because specialised healthcare is beyond their reach.
