Sexual and Gender-Based Violence is real, and it continues to affect women, girls, and vulnerable people in our communities in many painful ways. Sometimes it happens in public. Sometimes it happens in silence through intimidation, blackmail, threats, harassment, humiliation, and the non-consensual sharing of images or videos.
No one deserves abuse, exploitation, or public shaming.

If you or someone you know is experiencing any form of SGBV, please know that help is available. You are not alone, and support can be accessed through our safe spaces and referral networks.

We currently have five safe spaces available to support survivors:
πŸ“ District Health Center – Walewale
πŸ“ Choggu Health Center – Tamale
πŸ“ Bilpiela Health Center – Tamale
πŸ“ Planned Parenthood Association of Ghana (PPAG) – Tamale
πŸ“ TOLEC Ghana – Tamale

These spaces are here to provide support, information, referrals, and a safer environment for survivors and those at risk.

Together, we must build communities that protect dignity, respect consent, and speak up against all forms of violence and abuse.

Burnout is not a badge of honour.
Our work is meant to be a venture of productivity and reward, not a crucible of strenuous activity and constant physical and mental breakdown.

This week, our celebration turns the magnifying lens on .
Do our employers place premium value on our mental health? Do our HR practices take employees’ mental health into consideration, or has physical health taken all of our attention?
Our mental health is equally as important as our physical health, no matter where we are.
Ghana loses roughly 7% of its annually due to mental health-related issues. The WHO cites untreated depression and anxiety alone cost the global economy over $1 trillion annually in lost productivity.
Every facet of industry requires some thinking. Without a healthy mind, no one can be productive, thereby decreasing overall national and global development.
This May, as we focus on Turning into , let’s place our mental health first. The mind carries the rest of the body. Without it, nobody can function. Let’s prioritize mental health in our workplaces.
Take a break before you break.

Why Mental Health Education Should Be Part of School Life.

When we talk about education, we often focus on academics β€” mathematics, science, literature, and examinations. But what about the skills that help students navigate life itself?
School should not only prepare students for certificates and university admissions; it should also prepare them for life. One of the most important lessons often missing in our educational system is mental health education.

Adolescence is a critical stage of development where many mental health challenges first emerge. Anxiety, depression, stress, and emotional struggles often begin during these years, yet many students are not equipped with the knowledge or support needed to recognize and manage them.

Without guidance, these challenges can affect academic performance, relationships, confidence, and long-term wellbeing.

By integrating mental health education into school curricula, schools can help students:
βœ”οΈ Recognize early warning signs
βœ”οΈ Build emotional resilience
βœ”οΈ Normalize conversations around mental wellbeing
βœ”οΈ Seek help without fear or stigma
βœ”οΈ Understand that wellbeing is just as important as academic success

Mental health education is not optional; it is essential. Schools must embrace it as a core part of nurturing the whole student β€” both mind and body.

If you run a private school in Tamale and would like to partner with us, we are always ready to connect. Let us work together to promote mental wellness among students and build healthier school communities.
