Grand Opening of the Newly Renovated Grey Letsu Godswill Obstetrics & Gynaecology Emergency Ward

A new chapter in quality maternal and gynaecological care has begun at Tema General Hospital with the grand opening and handing over of the newly renovated Grey Letsu Godswill Obstetrics & Gynaecology Emergency Ward.

The ward was renovated through the generous support of Mr. Grey Letsu Godswill as part of his continued commitment to improving healthcare delivery at Tema General Hospital. In recognition of his remarkable contribution and sustained support to the hospital, the Unit has been named after him.

The ward provides a modern, comfortable and conducive environment designed to enhance emergency obstetric and gynaecological care and ensure that patients receive timely, quality and compassionate treatment.

This latest intervention builds on Mr. Grey Letsu Godswill’s previous contribution to the hospital, including the donation of 50 hospital beds last year.

We sincerely appreciate his generosity, commitment and dedication to supporting healthcare delivery in our community. His contribution is a powerful reminder of the difference that partnership and philanthropy can make in strengthening our health facilities and improving patient care.

As we celebrate this milestone, we also acknowledge the dedication of our healthcare professionals whose expertise, compassion and teamwork will bring this facility to life and help save more lives.

. Kwaku Asiedu-Nketiah Jnr. Supports Tema General Hospital with Cardiac Monitor Donation.

Dr. Kwaku Asiedu-Nketiah Jnr., Vice Chairman of the National Youth Working Committee of the NDC, donated a cardiac monitor to the Pediatric Unit of the Tema General Hospital to support the delivery of quality healthcare to children.

The donation, presented on his behalf by Mr. Prince Amatey, forms part of a broader commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery and supporting patients who need critical medical care.

Speaking at the presentation, Mr. Amatey encouraged Ghanaians, particularly young people and medical practitioners, to support the Ghana Medical Trust Fund (Mahama Cares) through its crowdfunding channels. He stressed that every contribution, regardless of the amount, can help provide life-saving support to patients in need.

He also called on hospital leadership to prioritise the regular maintenance of medical equipment, noting that proper maintenance extends the lifespan of equipment and helps free up resources for other critical healthcare needs.
We are grateful for this thoughtful contribution and the continued commitment to improving healthcare delivery.
Together, we can support better healthcare and save more lives.

The Global Mercy hospital ship has returned to Ghana after 30 years, docking at Tema Port for the fifth time. During its 10 month stay, it will provide 1,950–2,600 free surgeries and 1,610–2,145 dental treatments, supporting Ghana’s efforts to strengthen surgical care and healthcare delivery.

Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, emphasized that the ship’s arrival should be seen as part of Ghana’s broader national healthcare priorities rather than a stand alone intervention. In addition to patient care, the programme will offer education, mentorship, and clinical training to Ghanaian healthcare professionals, helping to build long term capacity in the health sector.

Chief Executive Officer of Mercy Ships, Michelle White, reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to supporting Ghana’s healthcare system.

“Our vision is to be the best organisation for our patients, for one another, and for our partners. That means striving for excellence in the care we provide onboard, while also listening closely and respecting local expertise so that our collaboration is strong and effective,” she stated.
