Multiple Expressive Arts come together every summer in a unique Folclore Festival held in Chania Town, with dances, food markets, concerts etc.

The Traditional Strata of the Municipality of Chania is held every Tuesday afternoon from June for several months. This event showcases the region’s rich heritage through traditional costumes, culture, and the exceptional music, dance, and vocal artistry of members of the Traditional Associations, celebrating the unique identity of Chania.

This Madonna carved out in wood was made by my mother 65 years ago when she was a graduate student at the Institute of Fine Arts at the University of Chile.
It remains intact, still radiating a unique finesse and spirituality.

Wood carving is one of humanity’s oldest art forms. It bridges the gap between raw, natural material and sculptural expression. Spanning thousands of years, the practice ranges from functional folk crafts and religious iconography to contemporary, abstract sculptures.

Unlike stone or metal, wood has a fibrous, living grain. The texture and natural warmth make it an intimate and comfortable medium to carve and use for Expressive Arts Therapy.
Due to the versatility of wood, it allows to work for intricate detailing in small pieces (like netsuke or masks) or more massive, sweeping outdoor sculptures.

There is also a fundamental meditative process that unfolds. The art form is deeply grounded in the "subtractive" process—revealing the art hidden within the wood block.

Team building is an essential part of success in any company or any group setting. Every year I arrange a summer party with greek dances and food to bring the TUI hotel reps together, share experiences, disconnect from the seasonal pressure and connect with each other.
It's a guaranteed success and the bonding is inevitable.

Greek Easter Saturday (Holy Saturday) is a day of transitioning from mourning to celebration.

The Holy Light is flown from Jerusalem to Athens and then distributed to churches across Greece.

Midnight Service (Anastasi) is around 11:00 PM, and people gather in churches holding lambades (special, decorated candles).
The Resurrection: At exactly midnight, all church lights are extinguished, symbolizing the darkness of the tomb. The priest shares the Holy Light, and the congregation chants "Christos Anesti" (Christ is Risen).

After that the faithful try to bring their candle flame home, often using the smoke to make a cross on their doorframe for good luck.

In the island of Crete, an effigy representing Judas Iscariot is burned to symbolize the punishment of betrayal, triumph over evil, and purification. This ritual acts as a cathartic community event marking the transition from the mourning of Holy Week to the joy of the Resurrection.

The Epitaphios (Epitafio) procession on Good Friday is a deeply solemn Greek Orthodox tradition mourning the burial of Jesus Christ. Women decorate a funeral bier (Epitaphios) with flowers. In the evening, this bier is carried through streets in a candlelit procession, often accompanied by funeral bells, hymns, and incense.

In the evening, the decorated bier is carried on shoulders through towns and villages. It is a funeral procession, where the faithful follow holding candles.

Before the procession, citizens can approach the bier to pay their respects by kissing Christ's icon laying inside the bier.
