Throughout July and early August 2026, the Counter-Trafficking in Persons (C-TIP) Unit of the Ministry of Human Services and Social Security executed a comprehensive series of specialized training sessions aimed at strengthening institutional capacity and multi-sectoral responses to human trafficking.
In July, the Unit delivered an intensive two-day training covering six specialized modules to 37 Intelligence Officers, alongside training 36 healthcare personnel at Woodlands Hospital. Frontline law enforcement capabilities were further reinforced through a two-day program for 84 officers of the Guyana Police Force (GPF) covering General C-TIP Awareness and Psychological First Aid, as well as a two-day Level One Awareness workshop conducted in Berbice in collaboration with the Ministry of Home Affairs, which trained 42 GPF recruits each day.
Building on this momentum, the C-TIP Unit collaborated with the Ministry of Home Affairs on August 4th and 5th to provide joint training on C-TIP and Psychological First Aid to officers across the Guyana Police Force, Immigration, and Intelligence divisions. Additionally, on August 5th, the Unit delivered specialized C-TIP training to 28 members of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF).
Through these targeted inter-agency initiatives, the Ministry continues to empower security forces, medical professionals, and key stakeholders with the expertise necessary to identify trafficking, support victims, and combat exploitation nationwide.
Suspicious activities can be reported anonymously to the C-TIP Hotline at 227-4083 / 623-5030.
