⭐Occupational Therapy in Parkinsonism : Application of Assessment and Intervention⭐

Introduction: Occupational therapists play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals living with Parkinson’s disease. This course equips occupational therapists with updated, evidence-based knowledge and practical skills for Parkinson’s disease rehabilitation. Participants will be able to conduct condition-specific assessments, formulate person-centered intervention plans, and deliver effective caregiver education and service pathway planning to support high-quality services.

Learning object:
• Conceptualization of Parkinson’s disease for OT practice
• Staging of Parkinson’s disease
• Condition-specific assessment for Parkinson’s disease
• Fall prevention: risk factors and environmental adaptations
• Intervention strategies for key symptoms (e.g., rigidity and movement difficulties)
• Assessment and intervention strategies for cognitive and emotional deficits
• Patient and caregiver education and ongoing community support
• Local service pathway sharing: clinic workflow, referral pathway, and community support options

Speaker：Ms. Sally Liu Chuk Fun
• Ex-APOT, Ambulatory and Community Team, United Christian Hospital.
Over 30 years of HA experience, specialising in Parkinson’s disease, stroke rehabilitation, and cognitive rehabilitation. An experienced mentor who has contributed to the development of the Parkinson’s Disease Manual for OTs, led and participated in OTCOC task group, and supported professional organizations and community services.

💁‍♂️Target audience : Occupational therapists (OTs), including junior OTs and OTs with prior experience in neurological rehabilitation

💻Format : Live online via Zoom
