Training on Dementia Care for Domestic Helpers

Caring for a person living with dementia is not a simple task. In Hong Kong, domestic helpers are one of the key sources of support for family care at home. With the right knowledge and practical skills, families can gain greater peace of mind, and helpers can also reduce work-related stress.

To support this, the Jockey Club Centre for Positive Ageing will be hosting a free online seminar, “Training on Dementia Care for Domestic Helpers,” on 3 October and 10 October 2026 (two consecutive Saturdays). This course is specially designed for domestic helpers who are currently caring for persons with dementia, designed to provide domestic helpers with comprehensive skills training. We encourage employers to register their helpers and to assist them in setting up a personal email address for Zoom access.

🌿 Physical activity is one of the best investments we can make for healthy ageing.

Regular movement helps people maintain strength, balance and mobility as they grow older. It can reduce the risk of falls, support independence and improve quality of life well into older age.

The benefits go beyond physical health. Staying active can also improve mood, support cognitive function and help people remain socially connected to their communities.

Importantly, it is never too late to start. Even small increases in physical activity can bring meaningful health benefits at any age.

WHO recommends at least 150 minutes of moderate physical activity each week - just 22 minutes a day. Any type of activity will do: from walking to gardening to everyday chores.

Creating opportunities for people to stay active throughout life is essential for healthier, more resilient societies.
