When HK turns stormy and typhoon weather hits, many dogs experience a spike in stress and anxiety—cortisol can strongly intensify their reaction to loud sounds and sudden changes in the environment.

Calmer Canine helps dogs with thunder anxiety using tPEMF™ therapy to calm inflammation in the amygdala—the brain region responsible for processing involuntary fears and anxieties. With consistent, drug-free support over time, the device helps reduce that inflammation for long-lasting relief from anxiety and fear ⛈ 😇 ✨

Return to play for a dog after injury or a chronic joint/ muscle problem, is not as simple as uncliping the leash!

That’s a sure way to re-injure, cause a setback in your pet, or restart the ‘flare-up’.

If your pet is recovering from injury or surgery, your veterinary physical therapist / canine rehab vet knows exactly what your pet needs- or doesn’t need!!

Physiotherapy isn’t always about doing more — often it’s about restricting and controlling exercise to build strength safely and avoid setbacks.

We carefully progress these key factors, depending on the individual pet’s needs:
• Distance (or time)
• Ground Surface
• Terrain
• Speed
• Impact
• Intervals
• Hydrotherapy

Golden rule: change just one variable at a time and record how your pet copes - keep progress safe and steady. Rehab is a patient journey and the results are worth it! 💪

Ft 📸 : Dr. Jane's favourite doggy and rehab patient, Barack Obama🐶 Yes really!! We will all miss him when he leaves Hong Kong

Do you know what storm season feels like for your dog?

It's not just the noise. Thunder, lightning, wind and the memory of past storms can combine into an experience an anxious dog can't escape on their own — and some veterinary behaviourists think static build-up in the coat and falling barometric pressure may add to the discomfort. ⛈️

A safe hiding place, calm company and steady routine are still the foundations of storm-anxiety care. Keep doing them. But if your dog needs more support, there's a drug-free option worth knowing about.

Calmer Canine® uses targeted pulsed electromagnetic field (tPEMF™) technology — FDA-cleared for use in humans — in silent, sensation-free 15-minute sessions delivered over the amygdala, the brain's anxiety centre.

In a double-blind, randomised, placebo-controlled study, dogs with separation anxiety showed measurable improvement in anxious behaviours after 4–6 weeks of twice-daily sessions. Its use for storm and noise anxiety hasn't been formally studied yet, but many owners — including some of ours — have reported their dogs coping better through stormy days. 🌀

Worth knowing: the studied protocol is two 15-minute sessions daily for 4–6 weeks, so the time to start is before the season peaks, not the night a typhoon hits.

We're offering a special discount through typhoon season. 🩵 DM us or tap the link in bio — and if your dog's storm anxiety is severe, come talk to us about a full plan.

Tethered Cord Syndrome ⛓️‍💥in dogs 🐶

A rary seen, discussed or diagnosed neurological issue for dogs. But Hiro🐶 (in the picture) was refered for imaging and able to undergo surgery and rehab to relieve his symptoms! 🎉

TCS is where the end of the spinal cord is abnormally ‘anchored’ or restricted inside the spinal canal or vertebral column (near the butt), causing nerve pain with some movement.

Young dogs (3-5 years) may show lumbar back pain and ‘weird signs’ like sitting suddenly when on a walk, turning back and looking at their butt, hypersensitive to touch, and sometimes aggression when touched.

Great news is more research is coming out on this topic in the specialty area of canine rehabilitation and physiotherapy, alongside surgery, imaging and behaviour specialties- a real collaborative effort.

We are completely melted by this handsome boy 🫠
Between those adorable hip wiggles and that face, it’s impossible not to smile.

But here’s the real talk: as cute as that wiggle is, it’s actually a sign of his hip dysplasia. So we're working hard to fix his gait for his comfort and long-term health✨
