Your nervous system might be screaming for a reset. If you find yourself constantly , dissociating during the day, or literally unable to keep your eyes closed during savasana because your body feels unsafe to relax—you aren’t broken. Your nervous system is just dysregulated.
I’ve been there. When I hosted my first overseas retreat, I learned firsthand how crucial this work is. Integrating regulation practices BEFORE and AFTER the experience was the only way I stayed grounded, focused, and actually able to unwind.
It works for my students, too. One of them recently shared: “Learning how to self-regulate changed everything. On days that my busy mind is too active to sleep, I practice the vagal toning exercise and I can reclaim my power to navigate daily stress without completely crashing.”
