Our creative streak continued this week as residents enjoyed making their very own DIY jigsaw puzzles.

Using colourful markers, everyone designed bright and cheerful patterns filled with flowers, hearts and lots of imagination before turning their artwork into a puzzle to piece back together. 🎨💜🌼

Activities like this are a wonderful way to encourage creativity, concentration and fine motor skills, while also providing plenty of fun and laughter as everyone admired each other's unique designs.

It's been a fantastic week of arts and crafts here at College View, with our beautiful flower bookmarks and now these colourful handmade jigsaws. We can't wait to see what creative project we'll be trying next!

Our College View Nursing Home residents enjoyed a wonderfully creative afternoon making these beautiful DIY flower bookmarks.

Each bookmark was decorated with colourful pressed flowers, bright tassels and personalised with the names of special family members and friends, making every one a unique keepsake filled with love and happy memories. 💐❤️

Creative activities like these are a wonderful way to encourage self-expression, spark conversations and bring back cherished memories, all while having lots of fun together.

We think they turned out absolutely gorgeous – well done to everyone who took part🌼

💆‍♀️🍹 Spa Day at College View Nursing Home Cavan🍹💆‍♂️ when relaxation was on the menu as our amazing Activities Coordinators, Fiona and Ashley, treated residents and staff to a fabulous indulgent Day

With soothing foot spas, delicious snacks, and a colourful cocktail and mocktail menu, there was something for everyone. Drawing on her experience working in bars in both New York and Ireland, Fiona mixed up a selection of beautiful drinks that were a huge hit 🍹

At College View Nursing Home, we love creating special moments that bring people together. It's just one of the many reasons why College View is a wonderful place to live, work and thrive. 💙

💙 Celebrating our wonderful gentlemen... and two very special birthdays here in College View Nursing Home 🎉

We like to call Father's Day Gentlemen's Day because it's an opportunity to celebrate all of the wonderful men in our home. Not all of our male residents are fathers, but each and every one of them deserves to be recognised, appreciated and celebrated.

Our gentlemen enjoyed a special day with plenty of smiles, treats and great company as we marked the occasion together. 💙

We also had the pleasure of celebrating two very special birthdays! Happy Birthday to Margaret (looking fabulous in pink 💓) and Mary (in the Frame), who both enjoyed celebrating in style 🎂🎈

It was a wonderful time spent making memories and celebrating the amazing people who make College View Nursing Home such a special place to call home.

Happy 102nd Birthday, Susan 🎂🎉

What a very special weekend we had celebrating our wonderful resident, Susan, as she reached the incredible milestone of 102 years young!

Susan enjoyed not one, but two birthday celebrations – one here at College View with her friends and staff, and another surrounded by her loving family on Sunday. It was a weekend filled with laughter, joy, and treasured memories.

As part of the celebrations, Susan was presented with a commemorative medal and a letter from the President – the third such letter and medal to join her growing collection, a remarkable achievement that reflects a truly extraordinary life.

Susan is a much-loved member of our College View family. Always full of life, she is known for her warm smile, cheerful nature, and love of a good chat and laugh. She still enjoys her knitting and wouldn't be without her radio, which keeps her company throughout the day.

Everyone at College View would like to wish Susan a very happy 102nd birthday. Thank you for sharing your wisdom, kindness, and wonderful sense of humour with us all.

The latest edition of the College View Nursing Home newsletter is now available to read online, showcasing all the wonderful moments shared by our residents, families, and staff throughout March, April, and May. 🌷

Inside, you'll find highlights from memorable outings, creative arts and crafts sessions, special celebrations, Alzheimer's Tea Day, visits from some furry friends, milestone birthdays, musical performances, baking days, Easter fun, and much more. There were plenty of smiles, laughter, achievements, and special memories made along the way.

World Elder Abuse Awareness Day 2026 💜

At College View Nursing Home, we marked World Elder Abuse Awareness Day by raising awareness and encouraging meaningful conversations about safeguarding, dignity, and respect for older people.

A special information display board was created, along with educational leaflets to help residents and visitors learn more about the importance of recognising and preventing elder abuse. Purple WEAAD ribbons were also handmade and distributed as a symbol of support and awareness for this important campaign.

Residents took part in an open discussion about what World Elder Abuse Awareness Day means, the importance of feeling safe, respected, and listened to, and knowing that everyone has the right to live free from abuse, neglect, or discrimination.

Together, we can help create communities where older people are valued, protected, and empowered.

Celebrating Our Wonderful Carers 💙

As part of Carers Appreciation Week, we have been taking time to recognise and thank the incredible staff at College View Nursing Home for the compassion, dedication and kindness they show every day.

This week our team enjoyed some well-deserved pizzas, but the most heartfelt moments came from our residents. Rory went out to pick beautiful flowers to present to staff, while Noelle generously gifted chocolates to thank the carers for the wonderful care and support she receives.

The appreciation continued as some of our residents baked biscuits especially for the team, and our Director of Nursing, Jade, treated everyone to a delicious homemade blueberry cheesecake.

These thoughtful gestures reflect the special relationships that exist within our College View family. We are so grateful to our carers, nurses and all staff members who make a positive difference in the lives of our residents every single day.

Thank you for all that you do. Your care, commitment and kindness are truly appreciated. 💙
