🌸🎨 Creativity has been blooming at College View Nursing Home 🎨🌸

Our residents have been busy enjoying a wonderful variety of arts and crafts activities recently. Our Activities Coordinator, Aisling, held a flower painting class, where residents created colourful floral masterpieces. 🌺

The creativity didn't stop there🥰 Residents also made their own paper flower bouquets💐, designed lovely flowers-in-a-vase crafts, and created personalised bookmarks.

We also had knitting projects underway, along with many other wonderful crafts that showcased the talents and imagination of our residents.

At College View Nursing Home, we offer a varied daily activities programme with something to suit everyone’s interests and abilities. From arts and crafts to music, games, exercise, social events, Bingo, Ball Games and more, there are always opportunities to learn new skills, express creativity, and enjoy time together.

Well done to everyone who took part – the results were fantastic 🌼💐🧶✨

Birthday celebrations have been in full swing at College View Nursing Home recently.

A very Happy Birthday to Helen, Patrick (looking very stylish in red ❤️), Brian, and also to Marish, who is not pictured, but celebrated with us over the last few weeks. We hope you all had wonderful celebrations surrounded by friendship, laughter, and plenty of cake! 🎂🎈

We also enjoyed another fantastic Music Tuesday, where our wonderful nurse Shera-Ann and Mary Harwood treated everyone to beautiful singing and guitar music. There was plenty of toe-tapping, singing along, and smiles all around.

We are also delighted to share the total raised from our Alzheimer’s Tea Day in support of the Alzheimer Society of Ireland. A huge thank you to everyone who came along, donated, baked, supported, and helped make the day so special. Your kindness and generosity mean so much. 💜

Last Friday night, staff and management of College View Nursing Home gathered in the beautiful Cavan Crystal Hotel to celebrate a truly special milestone —to celebrate 25 years dedicated service of Philomena as Kitchen Assistant. 💐

Philomena has been at the heart of our home for so many years, bringing kindness, warmth, hard work and friendship to residents and colleagues alike. Her commitment and caring nature have made a lasting impact on everyone who has had the pleasure of working with her. ❤️

Residents from College View Nursing Home enjoyed a fantastic evening out last Tuesday night with a trip to The Kilmore Hotel for the Cavan Singers performance.

There was wonderful music, great company, and plenty of singing along throughout the evening. Outings like these create such special memories for our residents and are always looked forward to with excitement.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in organising such an enjoyable night out. The smiles on everyone’s faces said it all.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us at College View Nursing Home for our Alzheimer’s Tea Day on the 7th of May.

It was a wonderful day filled with tea, chats, laughter, and a fantastic quiz enjoyed by residents, families, and staff alike. A special thank you also to the talented Briody kids who provided wonderful live music and created such a lovely atmosphere for everyone 🎶

We are so grateful to everyone who supported the day and helped make it such a success.

Today at College View Nursing Home, we were proud to celebrate International Nurses Day 2026 and honour the incredible dedication of our nursing team. 💙

To mark the occasion, our nurses were presented with a small gift of appreciation as a token of our gratitude for their compassion, commitment, and unwavering care for our residents by Jane Foy, Grace Healthcare Ireland's Regional Operations Manager and our Jade Arbo, Director of Nursing at College View Nursing Home

Over the May Bank Holiday weekend at College View Nursing Home, Cavan, our Activities Coordinator Ashley brought in her beloved cocker spaniel, Brody 🐶, to visit the residents.

Brody was an instant favourite 💙, bringing smiles 😊, comfort 🤗, and plenty of joy to everyone he met. The residents thoroughly enjoyed his company, and Brody certainly didn’t mind all the extra attention — enjoying plenty of petting, cuddles, kisses, and affection throughout his visit 🐾💞.

Moments like these highlight the value of animal-assisted interaction and the positive impact of pet therapy in care settings 🐕. The presence of animals can help promote relaxation, reduce stress, and encourage emotional connection and wellbeing 🥰.

Thank you Ashley, a wonderful visit was had by all — Brody included 🐾🥰

Residents of College View Nursing Home, Cavan, accompanied by our Activities Coordinator Fiona, and Healthcare Assistant Martina, enjoyed a wonderful evening at Cavan Town Hall, attending a performance of John B. Keane’s The Love Hungry Farmer by the acclaimed Seamus O'Rourke

The group thoroughly enjoyed the production, which has been widely praised as a heartfelt, humorous and deeply moving adaptation of Keane’s classic work. O’Rourke delivers a powerful performance as John Bosco McLean, capturing both the comedy and poignancy of rural life, loneliness, and longing in Ireland.

Adapted from the work of The Love Hungry Farmer by John B. Keane, and performed by Seamus O'Rourke under the direction of Michael Scott, the production continues to tour to sold-out audiences across Ireland.

A memorable cultural outing was enjoyed by all.

🎉 More Birthday Celebrations at College View Nursing Home where it has been a week full of celebration as we marked several very special birthdays 🎂💐

On May 1st, we celebrated Mary and Maureen’s birthdays. Mary is pictured being presented with her beautiful birthday cake by our Activities Coordinator, Fiona 🎉

On May 4th, Mamie enjoyed her special day surrounded by family and is pictured with her son and daughter as she blew out the candles on her cake 🕯️💖

And on May 5th, Sr. Anne celebrated her birthday, adding even more cheer to a wonderful week of festivities 🎊

All the ladies had fantastic celebrations and of course, plenty of delicious birthday cake 🍰💕

Happy Birthday to you all — we hope your days were as special as you are 💖🥳

🎉 A very special birthday celebration at College View Nursing Home where on Tuesday, May 5th, when we celebrated a remarkable milestone of our wonderful resident Frances who turned 100 years young 🥳🥰

Frances was born and reared in Blainamore, Co. Cavan, before later moving to Cavan Town to live on River Street.

She spent a few years living in England before returning home, where she worked as a priest’s housekeeper.

A deeply religious woman throughout her life, Frances was honoured to receive a Papal blessing from Pope John Paul II some years ago.🙏She has always been highly regarded in her community and was very involved in church fundraising over the years.

Frances is still a keen reader and continues to enjoy books to this day 📚. Her favourite pastimes include bingo🥰, reading, and her faith🙏.

Frances shares a close bond with her nieces and nephews, who regularly bring her on outings💞. She also enjoys the occasional flutter on scratch cards and a trip to local bingo sessions 🥳
On her special day, Frances chose to enjoy a “duvet Day", so her birthday cake was brought to her room by our Activities Coordinators Fiona & Ashley, our staff & her family 🎂 There was lots of singing of 'happy birthday to you'.

Later, we gathered for a wonderful sing song with the fantastic Dessie Ronan providing entertainment 🎶💃

It was a fabulous day and the birthday girl enjoyed every minute 💖
