Three years ago, I walked away from a career I’d spent years building.

At the time, I genuinely worried what people would think.

Would they think I’d given up?
That I was lazy?
That I’d wasted my degree?
That I was throwing my career away?

If you’re standing at a crossroads, asking yourself, “What will people think?” I’d encourage you to ask a different question…

What if it isn’t true?

Looking back now, I realise I was asking myself all the wrong questions.

Because what I couldn’t see then was what I was walking towards.

I was walking towards a business built on my own values.

A life where I get to do meaningful work while still being present for my children.

A career where I never have to apologise for putting my family first.

I remember sitting in A&E at 4am with one of my boys when he had croup. My mind wasn’t just on him. It was racing, worrying about work, apologising for not being there for my clinic and hoping the steroids would work quickly so I wouldn’t let anyone down.

The next time he ended up in hospital, I was self-employed.

And I remember the relief of thinking there is nowhere else that I need to be.

That moment changed everything for me.

Success isn’t just awards, turnover or a busy diary.

It’s building a life where your work supports what matters most.

For me, that’s being there for my family, helping my clients, and creating a business that reflects who I am.

I thought I was walking away from something.

In reality, I was making room for something much better.

A little first for me this week 🎙️

I had my first ever live radio interview with Alan on Clare FM, chatting about being nominated for the Beko & Woman’s Way Mum of the Year Awards, balancing business and family life, and the journey from biomedical engineering and orthotics into the work I do today.

We also chatted about why making time for ourselves matters and how one hour is only 4% of your day ❤️

Thanks so much to Alan and the Clare FM team for making my first radio interview such an enjoyable experience, to Beko and Woman’s Way for the whole experience, and especially to the person who took the time to nominate me.

So this happened on Friday night and honestly I wasn’t sure what I’d say about it at first.

The night is a blur of happy tears, disbelief, and a quiet kind of pride that I’m still processing.

What started as a simple desire to help people feel calmer, more supported, and more connected to themselves has grown into something I could never have fully planned for.

Behind this award is every late night, every moment of doubt, every client I’ve had the privilege of working with, and every bit of support from people who believed in what I was building even when I was still figuring it out myself.

I’ve always worked at the intersection of clinical care and holistic wellbeing and this recognition feels like a reminder that there is space for both. For evidence-based practice and for intuition. For structure and softness. For science and soul.

I’m deeply grateful to be here, and even more excited for what’s ahead.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey and for Network Ireland Galway for showing me the power of self belief

Last month, I was celebrating 2 years in business, and tomorrow night I’ll be attending an awards event as a finalist for Emerging Businesswoman of the Year.

While the outcome is out of my hands, I’m taking a moment to celebrate how far this journey has come.

What started with a passion for helping people feel calmer, more balanced, and more connected to their wellbeing has evolved in ways I never could have imagined.

I’m incredibly proud of what I’m building, grateful to every client who has trusted me along the way, and excited about what the future holds.

Here’s to celebrating the journey, whatever tomorrow night brings.

What is Reproflexology™?

You may have heard of reflexology but Reproflexology™ is something a little more specialised. It's a trademarked protocol developed specifically to support reproductive health and fertility, at every stage of the journey.

It was created by Barbara Scott — Founder of the Association of Reproductive Reflexologists, author of Reflexology for Fertility, and currently completing a PhD on the effects of reflexology for those experiencing difficulties conceiving. This is evidence-informed, specialist care.

One of the things I love most about this approach is that there's a protocol for everyone wherever you are in your cycle or your journey. Whether you're just beginning to try, mid-IVF, or somewhere in between, there's support available for you.

I'm proud to be a full member of the Association of Reproductive Reflexologists and to offer Reproflexology™ here at 8ráBeo Holistics in Claregalway.

If you'd like to find out more or book a session, the link is in my bio or feel free to send me a message. I'm always happy to chat.

After months of waiting for case study results, I can finally share that I am now fully qualified in Reproductive Reflexology and ready to support you on your fertility journey.

For me, this isn’t just a certification. It represents the coming together of different parts of my professional path and who I am in practice.

With an engineering background, I naturally work in a structured, analytical way, looking for patterns, connections, and the bigger picture in health and fertility journeys.

As an orthotist, I am experienced in interpreting medical information and helping you make sense of complex reports, treatment plans, and clinical language in a way that feels understandable and less overwhelming.

Through my reproductive reflexology training, I can now offer tailored, evidence-informed protocols to support you at different stages of your cycle, whether your journey is natural or medically supported.

And through my holistic work, I hold space for the emotional and energetic side of your journey, because fertility is never just physical.

I can’t guarantee the destination, but I can help make your journey less lonely, less confusing, and more supported.

I’m deeply grateful for the couples who trusted me to support them during my training - including one family of three who is now a family of four, and another whose much-longed-for baby is due in the next few weeks.

If you’re on a fertility journey and would like to explore how Reproductive Reflexology could support you, you’re very welcome to reach out or book a discovery call.

I bought my ticket thinking it would be a great opportunity to practise my elevator pitch and share a quick overview of who I am and what I do at 8ráBeo Holistics.

But in true networking fashion, when I stood up on the night, I found myself sharing much more than the surface-level version of Gráinne Staunton.

I shared my why.

I spoke about why I ask my clients to give me just 4% of their day.

One hour.

Just 4% of your day dedicated to regulating your nervous system.

In that hour, you give your body permission to switch out of survival mode. Your nervous system can settle, your mind can quieten, and your brain can finally check in with the organs and systems that work tirelessly for you every single day.

It’s in those moments of rest and regulation that your body has the opportunity to restore balance.

The result?

You leave feeling calmer, clearer, more grounded, and better able to fill all the cups you spend so much of your time pouring into for everyone else.

As women, business owners, parents, carers, and professionals, we tend to put ourselves at the bottom of the list.

But what if giving yourself 4% of your day was the very thing that allowed you to show up more fully for the other 96%?

If your nervous system has been asking for a break, this is your reminder to listen.

My diary is open for June and I’d love to help you find your 4%.

Send me a message or click the booking link in my bio to reserve your session.

Five years ago I joined the IAPO committee to get more involved in supporting the profession behind the scenes.

Yesterday, at our annual education day and AGM, I delivered an exciting announcement as one of the Directors of the Irish Association of Prosthetists and Orthotists (IAPO).

This year we reached a huge milestone, formally recognising the work of all the previous committees since 2011, with the CRO.

IAPO is now officially a Company Limited by Guarantee (CLG). This is a major step that strengthens the future of the profession in Ireland and allows the association to grow and advocate more effectively.

So what is IAPO?
It is the professional body representing Prosthetists and Orthotists in Ireland; the clinicians who design and provide prosthetic limbs, braces, insoles and specialist footwear to help people move, live and function as independently as possible.

Our mission:
- Raise the profile of Prosthetics & Orthotics in Ireland
- Support and connect clinicians in the profession
- Advocate for the patients who rely on these services every day

What started as a way of keeping my toe in the door with P&O and staying connected to the profession has grown into something much bigger, and I’m proud to be helping lead change alongside an incredible committee.

This represents another side of my professional world because whether it’s orthotics, reflexology or holistic therapies, my passion has always been helping people live more comfortably in their bodies.

Let’s be honest.
There comes a point in pregnancy where you are just DONE.

Done being uncomfortable.
Done being exhausted.
Done needing a nap after a shower.
Done trying to get comfortable in bed.
And still you have weeks to go until that magic EDD.

This is the stage where regular reflexology can make a huge difference.
Studies have linked reflexology in pregnancy with: • Shorter labour
• Reduced anxiety
• Better sleep
• Improved digestion & bowel habits
• Reduced swelling
• Better relaxation and stress regulation

But beyond the research…
It gives you an hour where you don’t have to carry everything.
And that matters 🤰
If you’re pregnant and counting down the weeks, I’d love to support you.
