From 2 July 2026, the amount of your weekly income that isn’t counted in the means test for Carer's Allowance will increase.

The amount not counted will increase to:

💵 €1,000 per week for a single person (up from €625)
💵 €2,000 per week for a couple (up from €1,250)

🧑‍🦰 From July 2026, the weekly income limit for Carer’s Benefit will increase to €1,000 (up from €625).

Very high temperatures are expected over the next few days. Please take extra care to protect yourself, your family, friends, neighbours and work colleagues.

🚗 Never leave children, older people or pets in a parked vehicle
📱 Watch for signs of heat exhaustion such as dizziness, headache, nausea or excessive sweating

The Carer’s Support Grant of €2,000 will be paid on 4 June 2026.

📆 It’s not means-tested and is paid once a year.

💵 You get one payment for each person you care for.

You automatically get the payment if you get:

✅ Carer’s Allowance
✅ Carer’s Benefit
✅ Domiciliary Care Allowance

You may still qualify if you:

✅ Are 16 or over
✅ Live in Ireland
✅ Are a full-time carer for more than 6 months (this 6-month period must include the first Thursday in June)
✅ Live with the person being cared for, or meet certain criteria if you don’t live with them

Work Placement Experience Programme (WPEP) – DSP Placements Starting September 2026
The Department of Social Protection is inviting expressions of interest for 6-month paid work placements (30 hours per week) in DSP offices nationwide.
The programme is open to all priority cohorts, including members of the Traveller and Roma communities, and provides valuable experience in:

✅ General administration
✅ Customer service
✅ Office and data processing
✅ Working in a professional public service environment

💶 Weekly payment: €369 plus any additional Qualified Adult or Qualified Child payments you may be entitled to.
