🚫 When did Fear begin to get in your way?
Just a little reflection to share as I’m away on holidays, something has really caught my attention. How very often children until a certain age are so fearless, so trusting, open and willing to take chances/risks…
Of course I’m not including ‘all’ children as yes there are many (like I used to be very often) that are cautious, wary, unsure to try something new, to trust themselves, most likely due to some experience or messaging they went through or received
What I’m noticing is children taking leaps of faith to land on lilos into the pool, to not have to even have their caregiver very closely at hand keeping an eye, to come up to a stranger and converse or communicate in whatever way they can depending on language barriers. Watching my own son Conall, playfully socialising with other children, waiters, holiday makers and locals around here, trusting their goodness, safety and kindness.
It really has stayed with me as to the beauty of this, how fear and worry doesn’t seem to be in the equation at all, how carefree and explorative they are. It’s more my own worry and fears that block or stop him in his tracks…!
It just got me thinking the question of “when did fear and worry really begin to take a hold of me, in keeping me blocked and stopped from my natural authentic playful and trusting self…??”
Can you pinpoint a time(s) in your life when your Inner Child felt the fear and how it may have had a lasting impression, could it still be running the show?
