Your Symptoms Deserve Attention

Not every skin change is harmless — and knowing what to look for matters.

Changes in moles or new skin lesions should never be ignored, particularly if you notice:
• A mole changing in size, shape or colour
• Irregular or uneven borders
• Multiple colours within one lesion
• Itching, bleeding or crusting
• A new lesion that looks different from others

These changes can sometimes be associated with skin cancers, including melanoma — one of the most serious forms of skin cancer.

A helpful guide is the ABCDE rule:
✔ Asymmetry
✔ Border irregularity
✔ Colour variation
✔ Diameter larger than 6mm
✔ Evolving or changing over time

The majority of skin changes are not dangerous, but early assessment is extremely important. Detecting suspicious lesions early significantly improves outcomes.

At CUC Medical, we can assess skin concerns, advise on next steps, and arrange referral where appropriate.

Your symptoms deserve attention — especially when it comes to your skin.

Feel Better. Live Better. — Understanding Rosacea Triggers

Rosacea flare-ups don’t happen randomly — they are often the result of specific triggers that increase inflammation and blood flow in the skin.

Rosacea-prone skin has a more reactive vascular and immune response. This means certain triggers can cause blood vessels to dilate more easily, leading to flushing, redness and inflammation.

Common triggers include:

✔ Heat & temperature changes
Hot environments, saunas, steam or even moving from cold to warm settings can cause rapid blood vessel dilation, leading to flushing.

✔ UV exposure
Sun exposure increases inflammation and oxidative stress in the skin, which can worsen redness and contribute to long-term skin damage.

✔ Alcohol
Alcohol, particularly red wine, can dilate blood vessels and increase facial flushing in rosacea-prone skin.

✔ Spicy foods
These can stimulate nerve receptors in the skin, increasing blood flow and triggering redness.

✔ Stress
Stress activates the release of inflammatory mediators in the body, which can exacerbate skin sensitivity and trigger flare-ups.

✔ Harsh skincare / over-exfoliation
Overuse of acids, retinoids or abrasive products can disrupt the skin barrier, making the skin more reactive and prone to inflammation.

✔ Hot drinks
Very hot beverages can raise skin temperature and trigger flushing in some individuals.

Understanding your personal triggers is key. While not every trigger affects everyone the same way, identifying patterns can help you better manage flare-ups.

Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory condition — but with the right combination of lifestyle adjustments, skincare and medical support, symptoms can be significantly improved.

Rosacea is a common skin condition that often starts with symptoms people dismiss as “sensitive skin” or occasional flushing.

Signs you may have rosacea include:
• Persistent facial redness
• Flushing that comes and goes
• Visible broken capillaries
• Sensitivity or burning
• Small red bumps or flare-ups

Rosacea can worsen over time if left unmanaged, but early treatment can help calm inflammation, reduce redness and improve your skin health.

Bowel Changes

Changes in your bowel habits should never be ignored.

Irregular bowel movements can include:
• Constipation
• Diarrhoea
• Bloating
• Ongoing abdominal discomfort
• A noticeable change in your normal routine

While many causes are manageable, persistent symptoms can sometimes be a sign that your gut needs further investigation.

Your symptoms deserve attention — early assessment can help identify the cause and get you feeling better sooner.

Feel better. Live better. — Gut Health

Looking after your gut health can have a powerful impact on how you feel every day — from energy levels to digestion and overall wellbeing.

Simple habits can make a real difference:
• Eat a balanced diet with plenty of fibre
• Stay well hydrated
• Manage stress levels
• Keep active with regular movement
• Pay attention to how your body responds to foods

Small, consistent changes can support a healthier gut and help you feel more comfortable, energised and in control.

If symptoms like bloating, discomfort or irregular bowel movements persist, it may be worth getting checked.
