Your liver plays a vital role in keeping you healthy, but liver disease can often develop without obvious symptoms. Fortunately, there are simple steps you can take to protect your liver health.
Maintaining a healthy weight, being physically active, eating a balanced diet and limiting alcohol intake can all help reduce your risk of liver disease.
These were some of the key messages shared when the HSE Mid West Hepatitis C Nursing Team and Addiction Service joined the Listen to Your Liver mobile roadshow at Bedford Row in Limerick City.
The roadshow gave people an opportunity to learn more about their liver health and speak with healthcare professionals about reducing their risk of liver disease. More than 100 free liver scans were carried out during the event.
Organised by the Liver Ireland Support Network (LISN) in partnership with the Irish Liver Foundation, the roadshow brought liver health information and screening directly into the community and highlighted the importance of early detection.
