✨ Evening Reflection ✨

While the sunshine hits Ireland, I am sitting in the room putting my children to bed. The windows are wide open in an attempt to catch a gentle breeze rushing through our little cottage by the lake. Outside, the sounds of summer find their way in—jet skis, boats, music, all accompanied by laughter and the splashes of people jumping into the water hoping to cool down.

And then this graph caught my eye, and honestly, it made me stop and just breathe for a moment.

If you look closely, you can see our whole lives laid out in lines. There is that beautiful, loud, chaotic peak right in the middle where our days are completely consumed by our children and our work. It’s a season of constant noise, sticky fingers, endless questions, and juggling a million things at once.

As a mum, seeing that peak visually laid out like that really hits home. It is a stark, gentle reminder of just how fleeting these intense years of raising kids are. Right now, we are their entire world. Our time is their time.

But looking further down the chart, it’s the climbing line at the top—the time we spend alone as we get older—that really made me reflect.

It shows how naturally the noise fades away. The busy houses quiet down, the schedules clear out, and the pace of life shifts inward. It shouldn't feel sad, but it does make you look at the present moment a little differently.

It’s a reminder to appreciate the beautiful chaos of the middle peak while it's here, but also to think about how we build our inner world for the quiet chapters ahead. Who we spend our hours with will change, but how we look after ourselves and show up for the people in our communities never stops mattering.

Taking a quiet moment today to appreciate the season I'm in.
