ADI - Advancement of People with Disabilities & Rehabilitation for All Major-General (Res.)

By reimagining rehabilitation, ADI is advancing ability for all - empowering children, adolescents and adults with severe disabilities and providing cutting edge therapeutic and recovery services for anyone touched by disability. By advancing ability, ADI empowers Israel’s most vulnerable individuals – children, adolescents and young adults with severe disabilities – to reach their greatest lifeti

me potentials. ADI is also reimagining rehabilitation, providing cutting edge therapeutic and recovery services to individuals needing inpatient and outpatient care following an accident or health event. ADI’s teams of professional staff and volunteers at ADI Jerusalem and ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran are pioneering and sharing new ways to transform the lives of individuals with disabilities and their families. ADI also advocates, educates and leads efforts nationally and globally on disability inclusion, disability equity and providing rehabilitative care with dignity and a focus on the future. The ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran rehabilitative village in Israel’s south and the ADI Jerusalem residential center comprise a continuum of loving care from infancy and childhood through adulthood, ensuring that residents with multiple disabilities and complex medical issues receive the medical and rehabilitative care and educational, vocational and social opportunities they need to reach their fullest potentials. At the same time, ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran, which offers a host of rehabilitative solutions for individuals from all backgrounds and levels of need, is undergoing radical growth to meet the country's rehabilitative needs. The Harvey & Gloria Kaylie Rehabilitation Medical Center at ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran, the first rehabilitative hospital in the Negev region, is a state-of-the-art rehabilitation, research and social center that will establish a model of community-based inclusive health services, increase the number of Israel’s rehabilitative hospital beds dramatically, bring quality care to the underserved residents of the south, and create more housing and jobs in the Negev, marking the beginning of a brand new era of medical and economic strength for the State of Israel. Doron Almog leads ADI as Chairman of the organization, Avi Wortzman serves as CEO of ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran, and Shlomit Grayevsky serves as CEO of ADI Jerusalem.

‘ADI’ (pronounced ah-dee) is the Hebrew word for a radiant and multifaceted jewel, a name that reflects our expansive vision and broad scope of activities, including disability care, rehabilitation, research, employment, education, community services and Tikkun Olam. It also speaks to the importance and great value of our mission to care for the most precious members of our society – those who cannot care for themselves.

📃🖍️ CARDS OF KINDNESS BRING SENSATIONAL SMILES! 🤩❤️ Over the last few years, Congregation Tifereth Israel of Lower Bucks County, Pennsylvania, has forged a beautiful bond with ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran. In their latest act of friendship and generosity, the congregation's Hebrew School and Nursery School created colorful Israel Birthday Cards that were distributed to our ADI residents and special education students. As you can tell from the pictures, our ADI family members LOVED their cards and were overwhelmed by this selfless act of kindness and compassion. THANK YOU to Lana Pinkenson, Jeri Lichtenstein, Richard Harwood, Todd Sokol and the entire Tifereth Israel Men's Club (and so many others) for being the hearts and minds behind this wonderful initiative. THANK YOU Congregation Tifereth Israel for being such fantastic friends and partners, and for sending some sunshine our way during these confusing times! ☀️🙏🏻❤️🇮🇱

📣 THREE CHEERS FOR EMPOWERMENT! 🏀👨🏻‍🦽How did we celebrate ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran's team winning Israel's National Wheelchair Basketball Championship? With a pep rally, of course! 🤩🎉 The entire rehabilitation village gathered to congratulate our parasport champions and applaud their teamwork and tenacity. Throughout the program, moving speeches were made, medals were awarded, and tears of joy flowed freely. But the most emotional and exhilarating part of the proceedings was a cheer routine featuring ADI Negev residents and their dedicated National Service volunteers. The talented troupe took center court and wowed the crowds with their energy and beautifully choreographed dance routine. With all eyes on them, these dynamic dancers demonstrated why every person must be provided with opportunities to shine. 🌟 When we empower others, everyone wins! 💪🏻♿🏆

THANK YOU, JCYF! 🙏🏻❤️🇮🇱 A few months ago this moment would have been impossible. Today, Yasem happily brushes and cares for our therapy dogs, but when he first began animal-assisted therapy at ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran, he was too frightened to even stand nearby.

During his first sessions, Yasem would quietly stand behind his teacher, watching from a safe distance. With endless patience, gentle encouragement, and the support of his therapist, they gave Yasem the time and space he needed, and little by little, he gained the courage to play with the dogs. Yasem, who once hid behind his teacher, now eagerly approaches the dogs with confidence. He brushes their fur, communicates with them, and proudly takes responsibility for their wellbeing. Along the way, Yasem discovered so much more than a love for dogs. He developed resilience, patience, communication skills, and the courage to face challenges.

For children like Yasem, these moments are about so much more than animal-assisted therapy. They are life changing milestones that build independence, self-esteem and skills they carry into every part of their lives. Thanks to the generous support of The Jewish Community Youth Foundation (JCYF), ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran is able to provide Yasem and so many others with the opportunity to discover their inner strength and courage, and remind all of us that sometimes, the biggest transformations begin with one small step forward.

"After Entebbe, I thought that I understood the depth of my oath. I thought that I understood what mutual responsibility meant. Then my son, Eran, was born.

Soon after his birth, we learned that he suffered from severe intellectual and developmental disabilities. Eran never spoke a single word. He never said “Abba.” He never made eye contact. Yet, he became the greatest teacher of my life.

I often imagined Eran speaking up and saying to me in the voice he never had: “My dear father. I am a hostage. I am helpless and completely dependent on others. I have been left behind. Not for fifty-two minutes but for a lifetime. Are you ready to fight for me and those like me? Are you ready for a social Entebbe?”

That question stayed with me and changed everything. It transformed my understanding of mutual responsibility and what it means to ensure that we never leave the wounded and vulnerable behind. Eventually, that question led to the creation of ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran."

From the blog of Doron Almog at The Times of Israel

02/07/2026

🪖 Major General (Res.) Doron Almog was a commander at Entebbe. He's also the founder and chairman of ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran. The mission is the same. ♿

Fifty years ago, on July 4, 1976, he led the ground assault that freed the hostages at Entebbe.

Years later, his son, Eran, was born and named for Doron's brother, who was killed in the Yom Kippur War. Eran was born with severe intellectual and developmental disabilities. He never spoke. Never said 'Abba.'

Doron says he still hears Eran asking him to orchestrate a rescue for the vulnerable.

That rescue is ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran, a one-of-a-kind rehabilitation village for those living with and touched by disability. Doron calls it a "social Entebbe": a mission launched with the same readiness to risk everything so that others can live a life of meaning and empowerment.

With young leadership like this, OUR FUTURE IS BRIGHT! ☀️😎🇮🇱 It's always a blast when Jewish National Fund - USA's JLIM Leadership Mission comes to visit ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran! 🙌🏻 These exceptional young professionals and activists toured the agricultural farm and special education school, got a little dizzy at the accessible playground, played a spirited game of wheelchair basketball, and met war-wounded soldiers who are rehabbing at the Harvey and Gloria Kaylie Rehabilitation Medical Center - the first and only fully dedicated rehabilitation hospital in Israel's south. Well, that's 20 more people who consider our one-of-a-kind oasis of humanity, hope and healing in the desert their "happy place!" 🤩 Keep on spreading the JNF-USA vision and the 'ADI Magic'! ✨💚💙
