An unusual growth in your ear is not something to ignore. 👂⚠️

An aural polyp is an abnormal tissue growth in the ear canal or middle ear and can sometimes indicate an underlying ear infection, inflammation, or other ear condition.

If you notice ear discharge, reduced hearing, pain, bleeding, or any unusual growth, don’t self-diagnose—get it evaluated by an ENT specialist.

🪱 MAGGOTS IN THE EAR — YES, THIS WAS REAL.

A 52-year-old patient presented with foul-smelling ear discharge, earache and decreased hearing.

On examination, live maggots were found inside the ear canal. 😳

This condition is called aural myiasis — an infestation of the ear by fly larvae.

⚠️ Foul-smelling ear discharge is not normal.
Persistent discharge, pain or hearing loss should be evaluated by an ENT specialist.

Would you have guessed what was inside the ear? 👀

🚨 A 10-year-old with a chronic ear infection developed an aural polyp.

This child had a long-standing untreated ear infection and presented with heaviness in the ear, pain, persistent discharge and decreased hearing.

On examination, an aural polyp was seen occupying the external auditory canal, in the setting of chronic ear disease.

This case highlights an important message for parents:

👂 Recurrent or persistent ear discharge in a child is not normal.

If your child has ear discharge, pain, blocked sensation or reduced hearing, don’t wait for it to resolve on its own. Timely ENT evaluation can help identify the underlying cause and prevent further complications.

A hoarse voice may seem harmless—but when it persists, it could be your body’s way of asking for attention. 🎙️

If your voice changes for more than 2–3 weeks, don’t ignore it. Smoking & to***co, frequent throat irritation, and acid reflux can all affect your vocal cords and voice box.

✨ Your voice is a signal—listen to it.

Persistent hoarseness deserves an ENT evaluation.
