*NASHA MUKT YUVA FOR VIKSIT BHARAT SANKALP ABHIYAN”*
One-Day Awareness-cum-Yoga Session on “ *Yoga for Healthy Lifestyle”*
A One-Day Awareness-cum-Yoga Session was conducted by AYUSH Health & Wellness Centre (AHWC), YK Pora, Anantnag under the theme “Yoga for Healthy Lifestyle” on 09.08.2026 at the premises of Government Boys’ Middle School, YK Pora, Anantnag, as part of the activities under the “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan.”
The programme was conducted as per the roster issued by the District AYUSH Officer, Anantnag, vide No. Est/Ayush/DAO/Ang/1140-43 dated 07.08.2026.
The programme aimed to create awareness among school children and staff regarding the importance of a healthy lifestyle, regular yoga practice, prevention of diseases, and the role of AYUSH systems in promoting physical and mental well-being. Special emphasis was laid on adopting healthy habits and staying away from substance abuse.
Highlights of the Programme
Awareness Lecture on Yoga and Healthy Lifestyle
An awareness session was delivered by Dr. Shaheen Ahmad Mir, Medical Officer, AHWC YK Pora, highlighting the importance of Yoga in maintaining physical and mental health, improving fitness, reducing stress, and preventing various lifestyle-related disorders. The participants were also sensitized regarding the harmful effects of substance abuse and the importance of maintaining a healthy and disciplined lifestyle.
Live Yoga Session
A live practical Yoga session was conducted by Ms. Rubi Jan, Yoga Instructor, AHWC YK Pora. The students and staff actively participated in the session and were demonstrated various simple and beneficial Yoga practices suitable for their age group and routine.
Health Screening
The children and staff of the school were screened for various common ailments and health-related problems by the medical team of AHWC YK Pora. Appropriate health advice was provided to the participants based on the findings.
Distribution of Free AYUSH Medicines
Free AYUSH medicines were dispensed to the participants as per need, along with appropriate advice regarding their use and general health and hygiene.
Deworming Programme
The children and staff were also provided deworming medication on the occasion, as per need and applicable health guidelines.
The programme witnessed active participation from the students and staff of Government Boys’ Middle School, YK Pora. The participants were encouraged to incorporate Yoga, regular physical activity, healthy dietary habits and positive lifestyle practices into their daily routine and to remain committed to a drug-free and healthy society.
The programme concluded with a message that healthy youth are the foundation of a healthy, productive and developed India, and that Yoga and preventive healthcare can play an important role in achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat.
