🌿 Dogma and Healing — An Epistemological Reflection 🌿
Ayursankalpa Clinic
Dogma arises not from science,
but when methods are mistaken for absolute truth.
🧠 Modern biomedicine often defines valid knowledge through:
• Randomized controlled trials
• Measurable biomarkers
• Standardized protocols
• Population averages
These tools are powerful — and essential —
but they are not exhaustive of all healing realities.
🌿 Ayurveda is often evaluated using frameworks designed for:
• Single molecules
• Single targets
• Uniform populations
Yet Ayurveda operates through a different logic:
• Multi-component interventions
• Individualized treatment
• Dynamic, context-dependent reasoning
• Continuous clinical adaptation
Different systems of healing require
different logics of evaluation.
Dismissing Ayurveda as “unscientific” is not skepticism —
it reflects an epistemological limitation, not scientific rigor.
Ayurveda does not reject modern medicine.
It asserts that:
• Healing is individualized
• Balance often precedes biomarkers
• Clinical efficacy matters alongside mechanism
• Practitioner judgment (yukti) is indispensable
The real divide is not science vs tradition,
but a single truth model vs plural ways of knowing.
👉 When science forgets that methods are tools, dogma begins.
