Nobody talks enough about what happens to the mother after delivery. 🤍
Once the baby is born, everyone asks, “How is the baby?” But very few people ask, “How is the mother?”
She is healing from childbirth, dealing with bleeding and body changes, adjusting to breastfeeding, losing sleep and trying to understand a completely new version of herself.
Postpartum depression and anxiety are also more common than many people realise. Feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, anxious or unlike yourself does not mean you are failing as a mother. These feelings are real, valid and deserve attention.
Sometimes these struggles are dismissed as “part of postpartum.” But you don’t have to suffer silently.
If you or someone you know is struggling after childbirth, please talk to a doctor and seek the support you need. Taking care of the mother is just as important as taking care of the baby.
