Humanity Always Wins 💛
This is our very first post from SevikkUnavu, and we are sharing this with so much happiness and gratitude. We truly believe one thing — humanity always wins — and this experience made us feel it deeply.
As most of you know, we are from Tamil Nadu. During this summer vacation, we planned a road trip to Kerala with our two kids. It was one of those simple family trips filled with excitement, homemade food, and lots of small happy moments.
We entered Kerala around 2:00 PM. After finishing our home-packed lunch inside the car, we planned to visit the zoo in Thiruvananthapuram. By the time we finished eating, it was around 2:30 PM. We still had about 40 minutes to reach, and since the zoo closes at 5:00 PM, we felt relaxed and continued our journey.
The drive was beautiful. Trees on both sides, fresh air, and peaceful surroundings — we were enjoying every bit of it.
We were travelling on a service road after parking for lunch nearby. As we were about to join the main road, we crossed a speed breaker and suddenly heard a loud thud sound. We initially thought it was just because the speed breaker was high.
Nearby, there was an auto stand. It was not a busy time, and a few auto drivers were standing there. One kind “Anna” noticed our car and immediately signaled to us — our tyre was flat.
We quickly pulled over to the extreme left. Within seconds, the auto drivers came towards us. They shared the contact number of a puncture repair person. My husband called, but since we were not fluent in Malayalam and didn’t know the exact location, it was difficult to explain.
That’s when one auto driver stepped in. He gently took the phone from us, spoke to the repair person, and clearly explained our location.
Even then, he didn’t stop there.
Though it was a busy area and broad daylight — where anyone might simply help a little and leave — he chose to stay with us.
Since it was lunch time, the puncture repair person couldn’t come immediately. Without hesitation, the auto driver asked for our stepney (spare tyre). He, along with other auto drivers, started helping my husband. They checked the tools, used the jack, removed the damaged tyre, and replaced it with the spare.
Meanwhile, my younger son started feeling uneasy and said he felt like vomiting. Another auto driver kindly asked us to sit inside their auto stand shelter. Me and my kids waited there safely and comfortably.
Within 20 minutes, everything was done. They ensured we were ready to continue our journey.
When my husband tried to offer payment, they immediately refused with a smile.
That moment truly touched our hearts.
Before entering Kerala, I had told my kids:
“We are representing Tamil Nadu. Whatever we do, people will see our state through us. So let’s be responsible — even small things like not throwing trash matter.”
And here, these auto driver brothers from Kerala showed us the same value through their actions.
They represented their state as kind, helpful, and compassionate.
We didn’t take any photos or videos of them.
But what they did will stay with us forever.
They didn’t just help us fix a tyre.
They made us feel safe, cared for, and respected — like family.
💛 Humanity always wins.
Thank you, Kerala.
We felt truly warm and grateful.
