If someone in your family has had colon cancer, you may need to start screening earlier than usual.

For average-risk individuals, colon cancer screening generally begins around age 45. But if you have a family history of colon cancer, your doctor may recommend starting earlier, depending on your family history and the age at which the relative was diagnosed.

Symptoms like a sudden change in bowel habits, blood in the stool, unexplained weight loss or persistent abdominal pain should not be ignored. A Colonoscopy can help detect abnormalities and if a polyp is found, it can often be removed during the same procedure.

Don’t wait for symptoms if you have a higher risk. Talk to a Gastroenterologist about the right screening schedule for you and your family.

Oily meal ke baad right upper abdomen mein dard? Har baar ise “gas” samajhkar ignore mat kijiye. ⚠️

Gallstone pain commonly:

🔹 Right upper ya upper-middle abdomen mein hota hai
🔹 Back ya right shoulder tak ja sakta hai
🔹 Heavy or oily food ke baad trigger ho sakta hai
🔹 Repeated attacks ke roop mein wapas aa sakta hai

Repeated pain ko sirf painkillers se suppress karna solution nahi hai. Clinical examination aur abdominal ultrasound se underlying cause aur appropriate next step decide karne mein help milti hai.

🚨 Severe or persistent pain, fever, jaundice, repeated vomiting or worsening symptoms require urgent medical attention.

Reliable information aur personalised medical assessment se shuruaat karein.

Afraid of anesthesia more than the surgery itself? You’re not alone. Many patients feel anxious about anesthesia before an operation but understanding how it works can help reduce that fear.

Modern anesthesia is carefully monitored throughout surgery. Your oxygen levels, blood pressure, heart rate and other vital parameters are continuously monitored to keep you safe and comfortable. If you have conditions like diabetes, high BP or heart disease, the anaesthesiologist takes additional precautions before surgery.

Never hesitate to ask questions before your operation. Discuss your concerns openly with your doctor and anaesthesiologist. No question is too small when it comes to your safety and peace of mind.

Is surgery really necessary? If you’re confused about whether to go ahead with an operation getting a second opinion can be a smart decision.

A second opinion is especially useful when the surgery is not urgent the diagnosis is unclear or the surgery carries significant risks. Another experienced surgeon may sometimes suggest a different or better treatment option.

However, in an emergency there may not be time to wait for another opinion. Conditions like severe appendicitis or significant internal bleeding require prompt medical attention.

If you or someone in your family is confused about a surgical decision, consult a qualified specialist and make an informed decision.

Appendix pain is something you should never ignore, especially when the pain starts around the navel and gradually shifts to the lower right side of the abdomen.

Appendicitis can also cause symptoms like fever, vomiting and loss of appetite. If treatment is delayed, the appendix can rupture and lead to a serious infection in the abdomen. Early medical evaluation is important to decide the right treatment at the right time.

Laparoscopic Appendix Surgery is a commonly used minimally invasive approach, with small cuts and generally faster recovery. If you or someone at home is experiencing symptoms suggestive of appendicitis, don’t wait for the pain to settle on its own. Consult a doctor promptly.

Seeing red or black blood in your stool is not something you should ignore or wait on for a few days. 🩸

Blood in the stool can have several causes, including Piles, Ulcers, intestinal inflammation or sometimes more serious conditions. If bleeding is accompanied by dizziness, weakness, fainting or persistent black stools, seeking immediate medical attention is important.

The exact cause can only be determined after proper evaluation. Depending on your symptoms, your doctor may recommend investigations such as an Endoscopy. The earlier the symptoms are evaluated, the better.

If you have a stone in the Gallbladder or bile duct, you may not always need a major surgery. 👀

When a stone gets stuck in the bile duct and causes symptoms like jaundice, infection or severe pain, ERCP can be used to remove the stone without a large surgical cut. It is an endoscopic procedure that generally allows for a quicker recovery.

However, ERCP and Gallbladder surgery serve different purposes. ERCP is used to remove stones from the bile duct, while Gallbladder surgery may be recommended separately if there are stones in the Gallbladder that require removal.

If you or someone in your family is dealing with Gallbladder or bile duct stones, consult a specialist for the right diagnosis and treatment.
