Welcome to our Developmental Milestone Series, where we break down essential early childhood growth stages to help parents navigate their little one’s journey with clarity and confidence.

Today, we are focusing on Sound Orientation & Auditory Response Skills—how your baby responds to words and sounds in their environment.

What to Look For:

Name Response: Around 6–9 months, babies typically begin turning their head toward the speaker when their name is called.

Environmental Sounds: Reacting naturally to familiar everyday noises like a doorbell, clapping, or a shaking rattle.

Simple At-Home Check:

1. Call your child’s name gently from outside their direct line of sight.

2. Introduce playful sounds (like a soft rattle or a bell) from different directions to see if they locate the sound source.

What If They Don’t Respond Consistently?

Occasional inattention is common, but persistent lack of response to name calls or environmental sounds can be an early indicator of auditory processing delays, speech-language delays, or developmental differences.

Not responding when called can sometimes be an early developmental milestone sign or an indicator worth looking into. Here is what you need to know:

What to look for (Signs): Does your child consistently ignore their name even when called multiple times, but seems to hear other sounds just fine? Do they lack joint attention or eye contact when you try to get their attention?

Why early action matters: Catching developmental differences early gives children the greatest advantage through targeted strategies and specialized therapies.

What to look out for:

Responsive Smiling: By around 2 to 3 months, babies usually start smiling in response to seeing your face, hearing your voice, or sharing a warm interaction.
Engaging Your Little One: If your baby doesn’t immediately smile back, try interacting with gentle sounds, playful expressions, or making eye contact to encourage a response.

When to Seek Guidance: If your little one consistently avoids eye contact, does not respond to playful sounds, or finds it hard to smile back by 3–4 months, don’t panic—early support makes all the difference.
Reaching out to a developmental specialist early on can help you understand your child’s unique pace and provide the right support when it matters most. 💛

We are building something at Mayrah that is bigger than a marketing campaign.

We are taking our Early Years Development Program to schools and preschools across Delhi NCR.

The program is completely free for schools.

It gives parents a Milestone Passbook to track their child’s development and access to MDAS, our structured developmental assessment system.

We are looking for a Social Impact Associate who can help us take this initiative to schools.

Your job is simple:

Talk to schools.
Meet principals and administrators.
Explain the program.
Get schools on board.
Help us reach more children and parents.

We are not looking for a conventional salesperson.

We are looking for someone who genuinely cares about children, education and social impact, and is confident enough to walk into a school and start a conversation.

Location matters

Our first focus is Rohini, Pitampura and nearby areas.

If you live in Rohini or around North West Delhi, that’s a big advantage.

Freshers are welcome.
