Did you know that insomnia is a symptom of menopause?

Many women are surprised to find that sleepless nights can be part of the menopause journey. Hormonal changes—especially a drop in estrogen and progesterone—can disrupt your sleep, cause night sweats, and even trigger anxiety, all of which make it harder to get a good night's rest.

If you've been tossing and turning more than usual and you're in your 40s or 50s, menopause might be the hidden culprit.

You're not alone - and there are ways to get relief.

Let’s talk more about it - have you experienced this?

Menopause is considered a risk factor for Alzheimer’s, with about 20% of menopausal women developing dementia. While hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is one potential strategy to reduce Alzheimer’s risk, there are many actionable steps you can take, including:

✅ Regular exercise 🏃‍♀️
✅ A healthy, brain-friendly diet 🥦
✅ Stress management & quality sleep 😴
✅ Managing conditions like diabetes, obesity, heart disease, & depression 💙

Why does my body hurt so much? All my test results are normal, yet I feel unwell and in pain. My doctor thinks I’m imagining it! Have you ever felt this way?

If so, you might be experiencing Musculoskeletal Syndrome of Menopause - a condition caused by declining estrogen levels that affects the joints, muscles, and bones, significantly impacting mobility and quality of life.

Common Symptoms include:
✅ Joint Pain & Stiffness – Especially in the knees, hands, shoulders, and hips
✅ Muscle Pain & Weakness – Loss of muscle mass and strength, leading to fatigue
✅ Osteoporosis – Increased risk of fractures due to reduced bone density
✅ Osteoarthritis – Cartilage degeneration worsened by estrogen loss
✅ Tendinitis & Bursitis – Inflammation causing pain and restricted movement
✅ Carpal Tunnel Syndrome– Tingling, numbness, and pain in the hands
✅ Reduced Flexibility & Balance – Increasing the risk of falls and injuries

You’re not alone! Many women go through this but often struggle to get answers. Have you experienced any of these symptoms? Let’s talk and support each other!

🔥 Why Do Hot Flashes Happen 🔥

Menopausal hot flashes are linked to changes in the hypothalamus - the part of the brain that controls body temperature. A specific group of brain cells, called KNDy neurons play a key role in this process. These neurons respond to estrogen, and when estrogen levels drop during menopause, their ability to regulate temperature is affected - leading to sudden waves of heat!

Simple non-medical lifestyle modifications include using a fan or AC to cool down or wearing light cotton clothes. Hormone (estrogen & progesterone) & anti-depressant (SSRIs) therapy are also common treatments for hot flashes. Other non-hormonal medication options to potentially treat hot flashes include Clonidine, Gabapentin and Pregabalin.

Can You Get Pregnant After Menopause?

Once you’ve gone 12 months without a period, menopause is official, and natural pregnancy is no longer possible. Fertility declines throughout your 30s and 40s, making pregnancy challenging even before perimenopause.

However, IVF is an option after menopause using frozen eggs, embryos, or donor eggs - but it comes with higher health risks. If you’re considering pregnancy after menopause, talk to your doctor to understand the risks and options.

Did you know IVF could still be an option after menopause? Let’s talk in the comments! ⬇️
