LIPOMA.
These are benign swellings, usually present below the skin. They are generally considered harmless. Lipoma, if ignored, can attain enormous size.
Recently had a patient, how had a lipoma for 20 years. The tumour we removed measured 1900 gms(almost 2 kgs), which is quite rare.

Varicose veins are a common illness affecting adults, especially those who have to stand for long durations...like Traffic Police, Teachers, Surgeons, certain factory workers etc. It can be found in pregnancy and can also be associated with other pathological conditions of the venous system and the abdomen.
It starts as small reticular veins (spider veins) as in Picture 1.
Progress to complete Varicose Veins as in Picture 2.
Ends up with complications like ulcers as in Picture 3.
Early intervention ensures better results.

Superficial skin swellings are not to be ignored.
They might not pose any immediate threat to life or limb, but will definitely convert an otherwise simple surgery to a troublesome one.

1st July is celebrated as the National Doctor's Day across India. This particular date was selected in 1991, to honour the great physician and the 2nd CM of West Bengal, Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy.
On this I would like to join my hands to applaud, to thank and to pray for all the doctors working in peripheral health care set ups. The challenges of working in the peripheral health care centres are undeniable. Limited resources, limited man power, at times furious public etc adds to the agony.
Happy Doctor's Day to all involved in this noble profession.

This patient was an 8 years old boy coming to my OPD with inability to pass urine for the last few days. After the diagnosis of Phimosis was made, Circumcision was performed. The patient is doing well now.

PHIMOSIS

It's a common condition affecting males of all ages.
Here the fo****in of the p***s is tightened and hence can't be retracted.
This can lead to many complications like-
Recurrent Urinary Tract Infections.
Difficulty in passing urine.
Balanitis/ Balanoposthitis.
Increased risk of Pe**le Cancer.
Disturbed sexual life in adults.
