Confused about IVF injections? Let me break down each one for you. 💙 — Dr. Supriya

One of the most common questions I get: "What are all these injections for?"
Hormone injections are a very important part of IVF treatment. So today, I'm explaining exactly which injections I give you, when I give them, and why they matter.

1️⃣ GONADOTROPIN INJECTIONS
When: Starting from day 2 of your menstrual cycle How long: Approximately 10-12 days What's in it: FSH (follicle-stimulating hormone) and LH (luteinizing hormone) Why I give it: To stimulate your ovaries to grow multiple follicles (eggs)
Normally, your body releases one egg per month. With gonadotropin injections, I help your ovaries grow multiple eggs at once — giving us more chances for success.
Important: Temperature and timing matter. Follow the instructions carefully.

2️⃣ ANTAGONIST INJECTIONS
When: Starting around day 5 of stimulation How long: 4-5 days What's in it: Cetrotide or Ganirelix (GnRH antagonist) Why I give it: To prevent your eggs from rupturing spontaneously
As your follicles grow, your body might try to ovulate on its own. The antagonist injection stops this from happening — so I can retrieve your eggs at the right time during the pickup procedure.

3️⃣ TRIGGER SHOT
When: Scheduled precisely 35-36 hours before egg pickup How many: One injection only What's in it: hCG or other trigger medication Why I give it: For final egg maturation
This is the "final push" that matures your eggs completely, preparing them for retrieval. The timing is critical — it must be exactly 35-36 hours before your scheduled pickup.

4️⃣ PROGESTERONE INJECTIONS
When: After embryo transfer How long: Throughout early pregnancy (until placenta takes over) What's in it: Progesterone hormone Why I give it: To support embryo implantation and maintain pregnancy
Progesterone prepares your uterine lining and supports the embryo as it implants. This is crucial for pregnancy success.

💛 IMPORTANT REMINDERS:
✅ All these hormone injections are safe and short-acting ✅ They work with your body's natural processes ✅ Timing is critical — especially for antagonist and trigger shots ✅ Side effects are usually mild and temporary
I know injections can feel overwhelming. But each one has a specific purpose. Each one is helping your body do what it needs to do to give you the best chance of pregnancy.

If you have questions about your injection protocol, ask me. I'm here to guide you through every step.

When do I recommend IVF? Here are the 5 main situations where IVF is the best option. 💙 — Dr. Supriya

IVF is a powerful fertility treatment — but it's not for everyone.
So when do I recommend it? Here are the 5 main situations:

1️⃣ BLOCKED FALLOPIAN TUBES
If one or both fallopian tubes are blocked, the egg and s***m can't meet naturally. IVF bypasses the tubes entirely — fertilization happens in the lab, and the embryo is placed directly in the uterus.
IVF is the best treatment option for tubal blockage.

2️⃣ FEMALE PARTNER AGE 35+ OR LOW OVARIAN RESERVE
After 35, egg quality and quantity decline rapidly. If your ovarian reserve is low (measured by AMH), time is critical.
IVF maximizes your chances by working with the eggs you have now.

3️⃣ 3+ FAILED IUI CYCLES
If IUI (intrauterine insemination) hasn't worked after 3 attempts, continuing with more IUIs rarely helps.
IVF is the next best treatment option.

4️⃣ VERY LOW OR ZERO S***M COUNT
If the s***m count is extremely low or quality is very poor, IVF with ICSI (injecting s***m directly into the egg) is the solution.
IVF with ICSI can work even with severe male factor infertility.

5️⃣ MODERATE TO SEVERE ENDOMETRIOSIS
Endometriosis reduces egg count and egg quality. It also creates a hostile environment for conception.
In moderate to severe cases, I recommend IVF.

💛 The takeaway:
IVF isn't the first option for everyone. But in these situations, it's often the most effective path to pregnancy.

If you're in one of these categories, don't delay. Come talk to me. Let's create a treatment plan that's right for you.

"Will they force me to do IVF if I visit a fertility clinic?" I hear this fear constantly — and I want to address it. 💙 — Dr. Supriya

Many couples delay coming to see me because they're afraid.
They think: "If I go to a fertility clinic, they'll push me into IVF."

And because of that fear, they wait. Sometimes for months. Sometimes for years. Letting valuable time pass.
Let me clear this up once and for all:
IVF IS NOT THE ONLY TREATMENT I OFFER.

WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENS WHEN YOU VISIT MY CLINIC:
STEP 1: DETAILED HISTORY
I sit down with both you and your partner. I ask about your medical history, lifestyle, previous attempts, and concerns.
STEP 2: REVIEW RECORDS
I review any previous medical records, test results, or treatments you've already tried.
STEP 3: NECESSARY TESTS
I order tests for both partners to understand what's happening.
STEP 4: PERSONALIZED TREATMENT PLAN
Based on YOUR history and YOUR test results, I create a treatment plan that's right for YOU.

TREATMENT OPTIONS — FROM BASIC TO ADVANCED:
BASIC TREATMENTS:

Simple ovulation induction with timed in*******se
Ovulation induction with IUI (intrauterine insemination)

ADVANCED TREATMENTS:

IVF (in vitro fertilization)
ICSI (intracytoplasmic s***m injection)

💛 I only recommend what you actually need.

Not everyone needs IVF. Many, many couples succeed with ovulation induction or IUI. I don't push treatments you don't need.
But I also don't want you to delay getting evaluated because you're scared of being forced into something.

Come see me. Let me assess. Let me guide you based on YOUR situation — not a one-size-fits-all approach.

The earlier you seek help, the more treatment options you have. Don't let fear steal your time.

IVF treatment can feel overwhelming. Let me simplify it for you in 5 clear steps. 💙 — Dr. Supriya

I hear this all the time: "IVF is so complicated. I don't understand what's happening."
So today, I'm breaking down the entire IVF process into 5 simple steps:

STEP 1: DAY 2 OF YOUR PERIOD
You come to the center for:

Ultrasound scan (to count eggs and check for cysts)
Blood test (to check hormone levels)

If everything is normal, we start hormone injections.

STEP 2: 10-12 DAYS OF INJECTIONS
You take daily injections to stimulate egg growth. During this time, we do 2-3 scans to monitor:

How many eggs are developing
What size they've reached

STEP 3: TRIGGER INJECTION
Once eggs reach the desired size, you receive one final injection for final egg maturation.

STEP 4: EGG PICKUP (35-36 HOURS AFTER TRIGGER)
We perform the egg pickup procedure to retrieve the mature eggs. We check their quality and maturity.
Then, we fertilize them with good quality s***m (this is called ICSI).
The fertilized eggs stay in the lab for the next 5 days, developing into embryos.

STEP 5: EMBRYO TRANSFER
Once embryos are ready:

Fresh transfer: Transferred in the same cycle as egg pickup
Frozen transfer: Frozen and transferred in a later cycle

💛 That's it. 5 steps.
It's not as complicated as it sounds. Each step has a purpose. Each step brings you closer to your goal.
If you have questions or doubts, drop them in the comments. I'm here to help.
