Tretinoin is one of the most versatile prescription ingredients in dermatology, but it is also one of the most commonly misused.

It can be highly effective for acne, clogged pores, post-acne marks and photoaging. However, using too much, too frequently, or without considering your skin’s tolerance can lead to unnecessary irritation.

The right approach depends on your skin concern and overall treatment plan.

As a dermatologist, my approach is simple: understand the science and focus on long-term skin health rather than quick results.

Save this reel if you’re considering starting tretinoin.

Mounjaro and Ozempic are both widely used for medical weight management, but they work differently and are not interchangeable.

The right choice depends on your health profile, weight-loss goals, medical history and your doctor’s assessment.

As a dermatologist and aesthetic physician, my approach is simple: look beyond the trend, understand the science, and choose what is actually appropriate for you.

Save this reel if you’re considering Mounjaro or Ozempic.

Festive season, happy skin.

Late nights, heavy makeup and changing routines can leave your skin dull and irritated. Keep it simple: hydrate, moisturise, wear SPF and don’t experiment with new products before a celebration.

Let your skin glow with you this festive season.

Dark Circles? It May Not Be Just Pigmentation.

Dark circles can have multiple causes, including pigmentation, blood vessels, skin thickness, facial anatomy and tear-trough shadows.

Pigmentary demarcation lines (PDL) can also make the under-eye area appear darker and are often overlooked.

This is why treating every dark circle with the same cream or procedure may not give the desired results. The right treatment starts with identifying the actual cause.

Your hair care routine doesn’t end when you step out of the shower. 🤍

How you dry and handle wet hair can make a difference, especially because wet hair is more fragile and prone to hair breakage.

Sometimes, healthier hair starts with changing a few simple everyday habits rather than adding more products.

Watch the reel to know what you might be doing wrong after washing your hair.

Your wedding day is not the time to start experimenting with your skin.

If you’re getting married, ideally start your pre-bridal skin preparation months in advance—not just a few days before the wedding.

Different concerns require different timelines. Acne, pigmentation, tanning, uneven texture, acne scars, hair concerns and dullness may each need a personalised approach and multiple sessions.

As a dermatologist, my advice is simple: plan early, treat strategically, and keep your skin calm as the wedding approaches.

Avoid introducing aggressive treatments, new skincare products or last-minute procedures without professional guidance. The goal is not to change your skin overnight—it is to help you achieve healthy, even and naturally radiant skin on your big day.

Save this Reel if your wedding is coming up, and share it with a bride-to-be.

Hair feeling flat, greasy or weighed down after conditioning this monsoon? Try reverse conditioning.

Instead of shampooing first and conditioning later, reverse the order: condition first, then shampoo.

Wet your hair thoroughly, apply conditioner from mid-lengths to ends, leave it on for 2–5 minutes, then shampoo and rinse.

During monsoon, humidity can make hair feel limp, frizzy and greasy. Reverse conditioning may help you get the softness of conditioner without leaving your hair feeling too heavy.

It may not work for every hair type, but it’s a simple technique worth trying if your hair tends to feel weighed down.

Would you try this hair hack?

Thinking of Taking Collagen for Your Skin? Here’s What You Actually Need to Know.

Collagen supplements can be an optional addition to your anti-ageing routine, but they’re not a magic solution for youthful skin.

If you choose to take collagen, hydrolysed collagen peptides are commonly used, with doses typically ranging from 2.5–10 grams per day. Visible changes, if any, may take around 2–3 months.

What can you realistically expect? Some studies suggest modest improvements in skin hydration, elasticity and the appearance of fine lines, but don’t expect a facelift in a scoop.

Bovine, porcine and marine collagen are all animal-derived sources of collagen. “Vegan collagen” is a misleading term because true collagen is an animal-derived structural protein; plant-based products generally provide nutrients such as amino acids and vitamin C that support collagen production rather than containing collagen itself.

Most importantly, collagen should be an adjunct, not the foundation of your anti-ageing strategy. Sunscreen, a high-protein diet, regular exercise and evidence-based treatments such as Botox, fillers or HIFU when appropriate remain important.

Have questions about collagen supplements? Share them in the comments.
