A brain cyst is a fluid-filled sac that can develop in or around the brain. Many brain cysts are present from birth and remain harmless throughout life, causing no symptoms. However, larger cysts or those pressing on nearby brain tissue may lead to headaches, seizures, balance problems, vision changes, or weakness. Diagnosis is usually made with a CT scan or MRI. Treatment depends on the type, size, location, and symptoms—many cysts only require regular monitoring, while symptomatic cysts may need surgical treatment. Early evaluation by a neurosurgeon helps determine the most appropriate management plan.
