NC govt should supplement efforts of LG, Modi govt for smooth Amarnath pilgrimage: Dr. Pardeep

Launching a sharp attack on the Omar Abdullah-led National Conference government over its "lacklustre and passive approach" towards the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, BJP J&K Media Incharge Dr. Pardeep Mahotra said that while the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Union Government and the Lieutenant Governor's administration are working tirelessly to ensure a safe, well-managed and spiritually enriching pilgrimage, the elected NC government has failed to display the urgency and commitment expected from a responsible administration.
Dr. Pardeep said the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra is not merely a religious event but a litmus test of governance, administrative efficiency and hospitality. He said that the LG administration is leading from the front by strengthening security, infrastructure and pilgrim facilitation. Unfortunately, the NC government appears content with issuing statements instead of ensuring visible improvements on the ground, he said.
Dr. Pardeep said Jammu, the gateway to the holy cave shrine, and also a potential tourist destination in itself, deserves far greater administrative attention than it is currently receiving. He stressed that if the NC government is serious about promoting tourism and rebuilding confidence, it must move beyond rhetoric and activate every concerned department in mission mode. He said that the Tourism, Hospitality, Transport, Health, Jal Shakti, Urban Local Bodies and allied departments cannot function as silent spectators during one of the country's largest annual pilgrimages.
Dr. Pardeep demanded immediate strengthening of accommodation facilities, expansion of shaded waiting areas to protect pilgrims from the scorching heat, uninterrupted drinking water supply, hygienic food facilities, better coordination with langar committees, clean public conveniences, efficient sanitation, dedicated medical teams, and properly staffed help desks. He also stressed the need for scientific traffic management to eliminate unnecessary inconvenience to pilgrims and local public also.
Dr. Pardeep also expressed concern over complaints regarding indifferent and insensitive behavior by sections of the support staff. "Pilgrims should return home with memories of Jammu's warmth and hospitality, not stories of administrative apathy. Every official deployed during the Yatra must treat devotees with dignity, respect and a spirit of service, he said.
Dr. Pardeep emphasized that every satisfied pilgrim becomes a goodwill ambassador for Jammu & Kashmir. He said that while the Modi Government and the LG administration are creating the right environment for a world-class pilgrimage, the NC government must stop playing the role of a passive observer and start functioning as an active partner. He said that if Omar Abdullah's government genuinely wants to promote tourism, it must prove its intent through visible action, efficient administration and accountable governance. Action speaks louder than words, and the people of Jammu & Kashmir are watching closely," he added.

J&K National Conference Govt reducing Jammu tourism to a mere transit route, must end regional bias: Dr. Pardeep

Omar Abdullah-led National Conference government is displaying a discriminatory and indifferent attitude towards the tourism potential of the Jammu region, said BJP J&K Media Incharge Dr. Pardeep Mahotra adding that its failure to promote balanced tourism has deprived thousands of local youth of employment and economic opportunities.
Dr. Pardeep said that while the annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra brings lakhs of devotees to Jammu & Kashmir, the NC government has failed to convert this massive footfall into year-round tourism across the Union Territory. The Amarnath Yatra should be the seed that grows into a mighty banyan tree of sustained tourism, attracting visitors to every district of Jammu & Kashmir throughout the year. Unfortunately, the present government lacks both the vision and the intent to achieve this, he said.
"The Tourism Department exists for all twenty districts of Jammu & Kashmir, not for a select few destinations. Every tourist should be aesthetically inspired and professionally guided to extend their stay, explore the rich diversity of Jammu and Kashmir, and leave with a desire to return again," said Dr. Pardeep, while stating that Jammu is being unfairly reduced to a mere transit corridor for pilgrims instead of being promoted as a destination in its own right.
Dr. Pardeep said the Jammu region possesses immense potential in spiritual, heritage, adventure, border, eco and cultural tourism, with destinations and experiences capable of attracting national and international visitors. Yet, these assets continue to suffer from poor promotion, inadequate infrastructure and administrative neglect because of the NC government's callous approach.
Dr. Pardeep emphasized that tourism must no longer be treated as a seasonal activity but as a full-fledged industry capable of generating large-scale employment, encouraging entrepreneurship, preserving local culture and accelerating economic growth. The NC government has miserably failed to evolve a comprehensive tourism policy despite immense opportunities and the strong infrastructure push provided by the Narendra Modi-led Union Government, he said.
Calling for immediate corrective measures, Dr. Pardeep asked the government to formulate a district-specific tourism development strategy, aggressively market Jammu's tourism potential across the country, strengthen connectivity and visitor facilities, promote Dogra heritage, border tourism, adventure sports and homestays, and ensure balanced tourism development across both Jammu and Kashmir.
"The Narendra Modi government has created an enabling environment through unprecedented investments in connectivity, infrastructure and security. The NC government must now abandon its politics of regional neglect and work towards making every district of Jammu & Kashmir a vibrant tourism destination. Balanced tourism is not merely an economic necessity, it is a commitment to equitable development and justice for every region of the Union Territory," Dr. Pardeep added.

BJP J&K Media Incharge Dr. Pardeep Mahotra has called upon the Omar Abdullah-led National Conference Government to fully activate its administrative machinery and work in complete coordination with the LG administration in J&K and the PM Modi-led Union Government to make this year's Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra the safest, best-organized and spiritually enriching pilgrimage in its history.
Dr. Pardeep said the Yatra is not only a matter of faith but also a symbol of national unity, resilience and Jammu & Kashmir's immense potential as a global spiritual tourism destination.
Dr. Pardeep Mahotra was addressing senior BJP leaders during a meeting at the BJP Headquarters, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu. He also lauded the dedicated services of the Indian Army, CAPFs, J&K Police, BRO, civil administration, healthcare workers, sanitation staff and volunteers, describing them as the backbone of the successful conduct of the Yatra.
Dr. Pardeep emphasized the economic significance of the pilgrimage and said the Yatra should be leveraged to promote religious tourism across Jammu & Kashmir, benefiting local businesses, transporters, artisans and youth. He also called for the beautification of Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas Base Camp and the Tawi riverfront with cultural displays to provide pilgrims with a grand spiritual welcome. He also appealed to the tourism department of J&K to make efforts to promote the tourist locations of Jammu region.
